Power button not working due to water drop at the headphone jack.

My sony xperia SL power button is not working due to a water drop that went inside the earphone jack. During the incident the unlock/powerbutton is still working. But after 2hours it no longer functions. Earphone jack is also not working. Only a small amount of water drop had gone inside the earphone jack. Also the speaker below is not working since small amount of water has also went inside. Other interface such as touchscreen and other buttons functions completely except those that I have mentioned. Please help if what can I do for now. I'm very worried. Thank you!

Sony's warranty doesn't cover water damage, the power button, earphone jack and speaker might have to be replaced, if there isn't any damaged to the motherboard, you could take it to a Sony repair center or you could buy the parts and repair it yourself, by the way once an electronic it's wet you should never try to turn it on, you have to put in a container w/ uncooked rice for 24-48hrs

Thank you for your help. I'm starting to put the phone inside the container with uncooked rice. I tried to restart the phone once after the powerbutton no longer functions. My problem is that I cannot turn off the phone since the battery is not removable. Thank you again. I'm very worried. After I put the phone inside the container can I charge it? It is now deadbatt.

you should NOT try to turn it on, do NOT try to charge it, remove the micro SIM card and the back cover and leave it for 1 or 2 days, this "might" save your phone

after 1-2 days is the moment of truth, try to turn it on, if it doesn't there's still hope, try to charge it, if it doesn't work then chances are that it's gone

I think there's still hope since the phone damage is only local. It doesn't affect the whole part such as short circuit problems. Problems are only with power button, earphone jack, and speaker. Other functions work properly. Thank you so much. You really helped me a lot and given me enough idea.

By the way, there is a constant blue led light even the phone is off. And when the battery is dead there is still the constant blue led light.

sadly you can't remove the battery unless you open the phone which if that was my Xperia S I would do, open the phone and remove the battery
