xperia u update problem

i am having problem on step 2-Prepare

i disconnect my phone, switch it off, wait for 5 sec, then when i connect my phone while holding the volume down btn....nothing happens

...is anyone facing the same problem...??

win 8 is istalled on my laptop

make sure that you press and hold the volume down button BEFORE you connect the usb cable, also turn off your firewall and antivirus

Use SUS.. it will help. if not then try it on WIN 7.

Charge Phone to 100%

Turn Off phone

Start SUS

Accept Terms and Conditions

Select Phone

Plug USB in PC

Press & Hold the volume down key (keep pressed)

Plug smaller side of USB in mobile (Volume down is still pressed)

Wait 10 seconds till you see an instruction on screen to leave volume down key

Wait 1 hour for updating and installing updates

After updating done keep phone in a cool place (AC room) and charge for an hour.

Switch On.

Uninstall Mcafee, powersaver, wisepilot and other bloatware that gets reinstalled on every update.

Change live wallpaper to static wallpaper.

Goto settings and do a settings reset.

Reinstate your personalised settings.

done as you said...hold the volume down key..then pluged in the usb in mobile....still nothin happens....is this bcoz i am having win 8 installed on my laptop..??

sometmes it says usb not recognised.....hav win 8 installed...where to download the xperia u drivers...??

PC Companion and Update Service isn't listed as compatible with Windows 8 yet (as it's not even launched globally yet :smileyhappy:). Use a PC with an older version and it should work.

please i need help;my update is taking too long.i am now in step 3 the actual update for more than two hours now and it says i shouldn't disconnect my phone.please can someone tell me what to do.

I have a problem,, SIGNAL drops + restarts .!!! any solution ?? ( softwares are upto date + sttings in GSM only + NO ICS 😕 ) Answers ???

I had the same problem with Xperia P at Windows 8. I only did two different things:

a) Install and update java

b) First plug the USB cable to computer

c) Then hold the volume button (don't press any other button)

d) Pressing the button plug the cable to the telephone

It worked for me.
