Sony Update Engine Failure

I've been trying to update my Arc S for two weeks via the Sony PC Companion and Update Servce.

All I get is Sony Update Engine failure (1200). The online server is currently overloaded.

Seriously what is going on at your end, it shouldnt be that hard?

Customers shouldnt have to "break into" their phones to hack a software update.

that's odd, uninstall both PCC and SUS and try again

Uninstalled both

Installed PC Companion from

http://www.sonymobile.com/gb/tools/pc-companion/

On install "New phone software version available" launches. Commenced wizard, starts fine towards end of "Prepare" errors with the Sony Update Engine failure (error 1200).

Closed out of that.

Installed Update Service http://software.sonymobile.com/install_packs/Update_Service_Setup-2.12.14.20.exe

Ran Update Service Wizard following instructions.

Passed through to Release the Back Key for the first time.

This time I got as far as checking connected phone... its been sitting like that for half an hour.

Just checked Task Manager, has it as not responding

the problem seem to be your PC, update JAVA, also disable your firewall and antivirus

is Sony spying on users in this forum?
