Factory reset when touchscreen is not working

Hi, I have this issue, touchsceen on my Xperia mini pro is not working so when I power the phone on i get to lock screen and thats it. I want to perform factory reset to find out whether its software or hardware problem, but how to do it, when I can't select factory reset in the menu. Tried couple of suggestions how to get into recovery mode, but none of them worked. Can somebody help me?

Try repairing it with PC Companion or SUS, this will reinstall the firmware & reset your phone.

i think update using SUS wont work. T have tried many times to flash and repair it but my mini wont work anymore.

try to perform a service test dial *#*#7378423#*#* then under service test, select touchscreen, see if the screen is reponsive to all commands.

Ok, ill try suggested. Can you just tell me one more thing? How can I backup my contacts without working touchscreen. Companion always says "now disconnect phone, select setting, backup..." and that's what I cant do without working touchpad.

there isn't a way to do so, as if you want to install an app you need the touchscreen to enable them, have you synced with google?/

No, its my girlfriends phone and she dont know how to use this stuff Strange there isnt a way really It shouldnt be such problem to access adress book through pc.

or just sync with google and you can access your contacts through your gmail
