Android 4.0 ICS improvements

JaBlu — Thu, 15 Nov 2012 09:04:48 GMT

Hi there,

I know that there won't be an update to Android 4.1 JB for 2011 Xperias. But I wonder if sotware build 4.1.B.0.587 is the last update for those devices or whether there will be further improvements and bugfixes?

I really would like to see a stable version of ICS for my Xperia arc.

In the product blog news of october 19 it says:

Beyond Ice Cream Sandwich we would not able to guarantee owners of these smartphones the user experience you expect and we demand. We will however, continue to support all these products with firmware maintenance releases.

Unfortunately Sony refuses to clarify what exactly is meant when they are talking about "firmware maintenance releases".

Thank you, but this is not really the answer I was looking for.

This statement only says that, if Sony ever released further updates, they'd probably solve the problems. However, it doesn't confirm that we are actually going to see further updates.

Can anyone please explain what Sony really means with "firmware maintenance releases"?

Is this an official announcement for minor updates?

Yes it is official. I mean by that it's issued by Sony..:) When we're going to get it, it's still blurry:)

It is pretty annoying reading about "The Bond phone" and "24K GOLD Xperia P", when at the same time customers of the 2011 devices are suffering from software bugs and bad customer support...
