Auto rotation suddenly not working

I bought Xperia S couple of months ago...Everything is working and fine...today i notice that Auto rotation suddenly stopped working...I just checked settings in Display and accessibility and it is stil enabled...but when i tilt the mobile while viewing photos and videos,its not working as before

Like you did before try turning the auto rotation off -> Then Hard reset the device. (Hold the volume up button and the lock/on and off button for a couple of seconds until the screen slowly dies out. Wait a few seconds and then turn the device back on normally -> go go settings turn auto rotation on.

P.s by doing a hard reset this way no items/settings on the device will change.

Please do try the steps above and if the problem occurs again it would be worth running an update/repair:

1. Before you start you have to download the PC Companion software from http://www.sonymobile.com/gb/tools/pc-companion/

and install it on your PC.

2. Once installed on your PC, double-click the PC Companion icon on your desktop to start the update.

Note! For some models you will be prompted to do a backup prior to the update and then restore.

3. Install and open PC Companion then select Support Zone.

4. Phone Software Update.

5. Start.

6. Repair Phone

7. Continue

8. Accept data removal

9. Next

10. Wait for prepare

11. Select Phone

12. Follow the connection steps

Thank u so much for ur Reply...

But its not working...i saw many keep telling doing factory reset wil solve d pbm,...is tat correct...im afraid accelerometer sensor might get spoiled...bec when we zoom out d screen,and shake d phone,we can see that water flow kind of thing right...its also not working...so hw can factory resetting will solve that issue...help me in tis...

the problem its an app SmartConnect

go to settings > apps > all > smartConnect > uninstall updates

is Sony spying on users in this forum?

Thank you so much for ur response...Im going to perform the solution tat u hav given(Hav some constrains with d internet in my office so cudnt perform as expected)...bef tat i got reply frm sony mobile contact center and they too gav couple of solutions...1st dey asked me to perform service test and wen i did tat,for d "accelerometer",it says "this device doesnot support the function" (ive performed d same test in my friend's mob-Xperia U and it shows some value).

Before perfoming ur solution,i need to know that is tis software issue or hardware issue...kindly get back to me...

My Accelerometer sensor is not working so auto rotation got spoiled...I want to manually rotate the screen for reading documents etc...How to manually rotate the screen...

Same problem here auto rotate fixed on. Very annoying Sony could do slot better have to say Sony's software on the Xperia z is pants! very disappointed went for Sony

I never buy xperia phone again.

It has a coomen problem for all models that screen auto rotation function stops to

work after software upadte.I have checked the forum thre are many people with different model

facing the same problem from long time.It means still sony cannot find a solution for it.My xperia sl have smae problm.

i have done all solution as they says in the support forum. there should have some fault in manufacturing.

This problem has to be a mix of Software and Hardware issue... No Repair or Update fixed this for me... and it happen as ramdomly as possibly can be...

This also affects the Gyroscope and the Compass so it might be a problem with the whole sensor group if it belongs to a same chip.

I will probably buy an Xperia as my next phone, but if that has nearly the same bugs, and problems as my current Acro S I will stop getting Xperia phones...

Sony needs to realize that if it wants to be No 4 worldwide they have to improve quality control, AND polish their software
