Sony Xperia TX - Email Connection error

I have an Sony Xperia TX and its running Android version 4.0.4. I keep getting connection error messages when checking my email.

Its hit and miss, sometimes it will work other times it will not. When trying to retrieve emails from the server I get the connection error", other times when the email is on my phone the email won't load but another email from the same account will?

Any ideas on this ? Maybe its the phone ? I bought it on EBay

how is your network coverage? are you using data plan or wifi?

using WiFi. Connection on Wifi in settings says excellent signal.

I just ran speedtest.net app there on my phone and got the following :

Ping

69ms

Download

7368Kbps

Upload

574Kbps

I am using the default email app that comes with the phone. I tried several apps and I find the problem throughout the phone.

Mostly it is apps that are not running 100% smooth and not internet speeds or web browsing

i installed K9 and had the same problems. It would work, but not all the time.

I didn't try Maildroid.

Yes, its very odd. I was wondering was there some problem with the actual phone, the Xperia TX. My last phone was the Xperia X8 and it was just slow, I never had problems with apps before.

do you think there is anything wrong with the phone or is it common for the phone to act like this ?

For example if I pick up the phone and unlock it and start up an app it might work for a bit before getting an connection error of some sort. If I wait for a bit or restart the app I can get it to work. Altough it works its not what I can be happy with. My laptop works straight away and I think the phone should work also.

Is there something wrong with the phone ? There is enough processing power in the phone to run several apps at the same time. Its just the connection and retervial of data that seems to be the problem.

repair your phone with SUS or PCC also do you have a brand new MICRO sim card?

Youre not the only one with this issue on wifi or 3G

I am also experiencing this on my TX. The most weird thing is that it just started happening today. I've had my TX for 2 weeks now. and the other weird thing is that it only applies to hotmail and not gmail.

So my best guess is that there is something wrong with microsoft hotmail server and nothing to do with the phone it self.

It still is not working.

I think it is the phone. I downloaded Sony software to re install the most up to date software for my phone. It was already the latest version but I did a re install anyway.

After the re install I setup my account. I entered my email address and password via exchange server.

Domain\username - first part of my email address

Server - hotmail.com

It is set to use secure connection (SSL)

Accept all SSL certificates and use Client certificates were NOT selected

It then goes and check for incoming server settings and I get an error

"Could not finish - You either entered an incorrect server address, or the server requires a protocol version that the Email application does not support "

I set up my hotmail account with just user name and password on my other phone Xperia X8 and it got first time, (checked for incoming and outgoing settings and retrieved my emails).

After the reinstall I got a list of notifications saying that apps could not be installed. I think there is some kind of connection problem with the phone itself. My other phone (Xperia X8) works perfectly on my WiFi network.

Did you do a full wipe? If not i would suggest you give that a try first. Otherwise theres nothing else you can do.

My TX's hotmail is acting up fine after a day. So I dont know what other advices i can give you other than wiping your phone and install it again.

Remember to back up your stuff first.

I tried the full wipe but still get the connection error.

It still connects to hotmail and retrieves emails but going through several emails in the account will eventually throw an connection error. I have an Ipod touch and it never ever got any kind of an error when retreiving emails no matter what I do with it. The Xperia TX is the exact opposite.

Try this, with your hotmail account logged in.

Go to Settings (Main settings, not the email settings) > Accounts & Sync > Click your hotmail > click on the settings button on the top right > Click remove account.

Go back to Accounts & Sync and add your hotmail account from there. I didnt change anything, I just kept clicking next.

It worked for me. Hope it works for you. GL
