Headset won't work althought it's listed as compatible with iPhone

Hi everyone

I just got my Xperia T and tried to get my headset to work. I've read that the 2012 family of Xperia phones are using the CTIA standard which is the same as "compatible with iPhone" listed headsets use such as mine.

However, the buttons on my remote won't work. I've already tried it with an TRRS pinout changer adapter but this didn't solve the problem.

Other than that, it works fine. I haven't tested the mic yet but I'm certain it won't work either since the buttons also don't.

Basically, the quuestion is: Why won't my CTIA headset work with an Xperia phone that also uses this standard.

Phone: Xperia T

Headset: DR-EX300 (http://store.sony.com/p/DR-EX300iP/en/p/DREX300IP#specifications)

The Xperia T follows the CTIA standard and supports CTIA headsets, but headsets using additional controls like volume or other dedicated keys may not be fully compatible. It depends on the headset design.

I have the same problem with Xperia S. Headsets that are compatible with iPhone works when it comes to just the sound, but it's not detected by the phone and the mic and volume controls on the headset don't work.

I would be glad to buy a sony headset, but I haven't found any for sports. It must be water proof and have over-the-ear clips that makes them stay on. Normal in-ear simply falls out of my ears.

Any recommendations?

I am searching from last 2 weeks just to confirm what all earphones are supported by my device.

Because online purchase sites dont tell you what statndard the earphones they are selling.

So the question is , how to come to know which one is supported and which one not without buying . Once bought u cant replace them.

Now I have come to know that my Xperia mini st15i supports OMTP (Sony customer support told so and I am convinced by other blogs). I dint know there is another standard called CTIA till I did some research.

Sony customer support didnt tell about CTIA . They also misguided me about A2DP which is bluetooth standard; however I told them beforeI wanna buy wired earphones.

They give distributor/dealers of Sony products number. What the **** do they know about technical issues .Those ask me to go to their Sony centre and he will check with some . He dint confirm whether he will replcae "If the earphones I chose after unpacking wont work" in front him only

Sony customer support centre people also wouldnt help telling specifications of their own products .(Even though I had some choices for which they had to tell just 'Yes' or 'No' : for it would be supported or not)**** it.

I never wasted so much time finding a product . Even its not sure.

I dont wanna buy in hurry and waste earphones.

As SE claims to buy some adapter to make CTIA earphones work , I dont think its good idea because it would wear out soon and there will be some drop at the connection; so you wont get proper music experience

I am very ****** off with Sony , first of all if 3.5 mm is universal why follow some other unique standard.And they dont even help regarding the same
