Wifi Mac Address Missing

Hi,

I have been trying to resolve this issue on my own for some time now.

My wifi mac address is missing.

When i go to wifi settings, it tells me that the mac address is not available.

It also says the same for bluetooth.

I have found that when i switch on bluetooth, the address becomes available.

doing the same to wifi does not.

switching on wifi, the phone starts to search for networks, then stops after a few seconds,

with the unable to search at this time error.

I then go to "about, status, and look in the settings there.

Bluetooth mac address is there when switched on, and unavailable when off.

But wifi mac address is unavailable permanently.

I have tried switching wifi on, and very quickly going to these settings again, but no change at all.

While in the wifi settings, and clicking on advanced, i can see an input section fot differentitems.

use static ip, ip address, gateway, netmask, dns1 and dns2.

all are greyed out except the first on asking to use static ip.

If i click on this, the rest open up for input, but they are all blank.

I assume that this is where my problem lies, and would like to know what these settings should be.

Phone is running on 2.1 update 1 if that helps.

At present, I am stuck with a phone that I cannot update, and i love the phone. it does everything for me, except no connection to internet now.

Please help.

Try to reboot the phone while Wi-Fi is turned on to see if will show you it's MAC address.

No, that doesnt work.

Wifi wont switch on.

when I start wifi, it goes into search mode immediately,

but after three or four seconds, a message appears stating,

"cannot scan for networks"

then turns off again.

Try to run a software repair using PC Companion and check if it can fix the problem.

If not it needs to be examined at an repair center to get it fixed. In that case contact your local support team.

,hey,,why I can't turn my wifi on?,,i'm trying to resolve the issue every now and then but nothing happened. It says that the mac address and the IP address is unavailable. When i turn it on it start to search but a few seconds it stop and off. I already try to run a software repair using PC COMPANION and fix the problem but nothing happened and change. It's still the same. Can you please do something about it. THANK YOU.

nope, repairing with xperia companiion didnt resolves the isse, wifi mac is unavailable, turning it on results in hanging and reboots
