Video Playback

Hi everyone. I downloaded a 1080p video, around 1gb. It did not play on the default video players, so i downoaded mobo player.
Mobo player played laggy, so i kept downloading around 6 other players to see if the playback could be improved, but it was to no avail.
I then decided to go for a 720p video ( 500mb ), as the arc s video recorder records 720p. It didnt play on the the stock video player , but it still lagged alot on the mobo player, as well as the others. It cannot be a high bitrate problem as the bitrate of recorded videos is around 2000 higher than the 720p vid i downloaded
What could the problem be? btw, all the files were mp4's

Have you tried MX Player?

Some people have reported that it is working well for them.

yes i tried it, and all those video players with hardware acceleration

I even bought dice player, but it still played laggy

So media basically transfers the pc to my phone's sd card ?

From what I understand, yes that's all that MediaGO does however in regards to your comment on MX player, have you tried all three options? (ie. hardware, software and software fast mode decoding options) Because they work with different performance for different formats.

Could you also tell us what type of file it is e.g. avi. mp4. mkv. etc. because I generally find (no matter the resolution) that mkv is the most demanding file so it lags a lot whilst mp4 is a very light file in resource use so it plays fluidly all the time. Sorry, I just noticed the end of your question.

btw, it may seem silly but are you sure its an mp4 file and not something like m4v file because the default player should play ALL m4v files (not factoring in playback performance, just that it plays)

on another note, you don't really need very high resolutions like 1080 as the screen is only 854*480 which i think is FWVGA.

yes im sue its mp4, and i tried all the options on mx player.
I may sound stupid here, but a video with a res of 854*480 would have the same clarity as a 1080p video on my phone due to screen size?

No, it doesn't just transfer the video to your phone. Media Go is a transcoding application, so it will (by default) actually encode the video (when needed--you can also opt to turn this setting off and can choose an alternative format, depending on your device) into a format/codec suitable for your phone, so the reason I suggested it, is because there might be an issue with this.
