ICS Update still not available:(

I still cant see the ICS Update for my Xperia P, both in the PC Companion and in the SUS!!

Is there anything that i am required to do so that i can see the update ?

Updates are still being released for the Xperia P in different regions. US sold Xperia P phones should see the update September 8th.

STILL NO UPDATE !! I mean this is just downright ridiculous, that too considering that i am from India, where it has supposedly been rolled out successfully ! Can someone from the Support team please respond as to when this tumultous waiting perioud will end?!

Why don't you go to a service center or contanct them? (How? Uhh let's see... give them a call, email them or sth?)

Have you not realized that posting here doesn't do anything?

Is it THAT tumultous? Do you not have anything better to do than to wait for an update on your phone?

Not everyone in India has got the update so it would be wrong to say that updates are avaiulable in India. Best is forget about update ... there's a saying in s/w field ... if it ain't broken don't upgrade. As it is i see too many issues with people going through horrible experience on upgrading. Looks like the upgarde itself isn;t stable and that's why no one has definitive answers from Sony Support.

I hate the idea of Upgrading and doing Factory Reset, losing all data etc. This is more ridiculous than not getting an update

So best is continue on few more months and see how nupgrade works and upgrade once the next bugfix version is released. If you love living on the EDGE then yes upgrade at first instant

I post here because thats the whole POINT of a forum!! Its an alternative to calling a service centre and letting everyone know how mismanaged this rollout has been.

And i am sure you may have a lot of things to do in your overly fruitful life, but its not just me who's cribbing, open the forum topics and you can see a lot of other posts about the same issue (if you know how to do that, coz you seem like a phone/email person).

The point is that such concerns could be an indicator for Sony to plan their rollouts in a better way, and not leave people hanging for so long.

I know it's not just you who's writing about this problem. It's rather difficult to not notice it when it's all over the forum. I wasn't intending to hurt you in any way, if I did, I apologize.

I just think people lack patience. I'm fed up with all this "where is ICS" talk. I don't see a problem with calling/emailing a service center either. That's what I did, I rang them and they told me. Simple.

I do agree with some people's statements that Sony should give out a list of SI's as they did with the Xperia S. I also agree that Sony has greatly mismanaged the rollouts of ICS in general, resulting in a great delay.

Again, I'm sorry if I offended you, I hope we all get ICS real soon.

Its just that I sincerely hope this is an eye opener for Sony... I see much smoother and faster updates happening for all the other manufacturers, and its a shame that the same can't be replicated in this case as well. One can only wait for now.

Thank you for contacting the Sony Xperia support centre.

We understand that you want to upgrade your Sony Xperia P handset to Android 4.0 ICS.

We value the importance of your concern and we are here to assist you.

In response to your query we are pleased to inform you that the Android 4.0 is available for your Sony Xperia P handset and you can update it easily by following the easy steps as mentioned below:....

(Basically says to connect the phone to a computer and start up PC Companion)

So... I don't know what's gone wrong in your case, maybe the phone is a paralell import or something? I have no clue...

the best thing to do is to go to you local sony service center and have them upgrade it. tell them you emailed sony and got a response that ICS is available. But PCC doesn't have updates for your phone.
