ICS: Bad Battery Consumption!

I've updated few days ago to ICS v. 6.1.B.0.544 and I'm experiencing a BAD BATTERY CONSUMPTION comparing it before the upgrade. With the same tipical phone's use from the morning to the evening as in my habitudes (exactly the same, approx. from 8am to 10pm), the battery now hardly reaches the evening (without using data connection, without using wifi, talking 15 min. total, sending approx. 3-5 sms, turning it on sometime for few seconds, that's it). Before around 10pm it was still approx. 50-60%, now 15-20%!! My phone is new, 3 months life!

Could I've an explanation by SONY staff about this battery problem? Thanks so much!

PS: And fortunately that I've read that the first benefit achieved by ICS should be a better battery usage! In this way the Xperia P becomes almost useless, a 2012 modern phone with a ridicolous battery life! PLEASE IMPROVE THE PHONE'S BATTERY, it's the time to provide technologically advanced devices with powerful and better batteries, still this battery life problem on 2012's phone, it is NOT acceptable anymore!! I suggest to ask 50 USD more on the phone price but please furnish a phone with usable battery life!!

My friend,as you can see within this forum, you are not the only one complaining about the problems after updating to ICS.The best thing you can do is to repair your phone with SUS or PCC.But if you didn't charge your phone at least 2-3 times, you should let ICS settle and it may become better.

SUS: http://www.sonymobile.com/gb/tools/update-service/

PCC: http://www.sonymobile.com/gb/tools/pc-companion/

Yes I've read something on this forum about this problem, but it's really not possible that SONY falls in this "ingenuous" problem!! We're talking about SONY and about something that should be the first problem of each company, each phone, each upgrade, the Battery Usage: WHAT WE DO WITH SUCH GREAT FEATURES, NEW FUNCTIONS, SMART TAGS, BLUETOOTH, WIFI, etc. if OUR PHONE TURNS POORLY OFF AT 3pm?!

I really cannot believe that on 2012 we still have this poor battery performances!!! I cannot believe we must go around with our power adapter searching desperately for a power point! It's simply scandalous on 2012!!!

Yes,i know you are right.ICS is full of bugs, but in some cases there were errors in updating and people admit that repairing worked for them. And also,ICS needs a couple of charges until is at full option. After 2-3 charges,it worked better for me,and for others.I know, sony needs to fix all these bugs and i believe it is annoying and repairing doesn't work, but at least people can give it a try.

SONY MUST DO SOMETHING ABOUT THIS BATTERY PROBLEM!!

But the problem is that SONY is releasing too many devices, I don't understand this business ... Xperia P, S, V, X, Z, Y, SS, DD, RR, TT ........ instead to concentrate on making few models working perfectly as everybody expects from SONY, they are just pushing out models which NOBODY needs!

Dear Johan, thanks for your reply, I really appreciate it.

I've to give here a "strange behaviour" which sounds as a GOOD news! After few days (about 1 week..) and 4-5 battery recharges, yesterday has been the first day the battery showed the improvements which the ICS promised! I've to say that dueinr the last weekend I didn't use the phone so much, but anyway compared to the previous days (just after the ICS upgrade) the battery life really improved and right now, after 2 days and nights without recharging, it shows 55% of charge left. Not bad.

Therefore, I've to conclude in my experience that the ICS seems to improve effectively the Battery Life although its behaviour is really strange because to get a FULL BATTERY PERFORMANCE it needed to recharge my phone, as above said, 4-5 times. At least, this has been my experience which I've finish to test with a normal/intesive use of phone (calls, data connection, wi-fi, bluetooth, etc.).

However, after 1 week the battery works much better, also compared to its performances before to upgrade to ICS. If this is a "normal" behaviour, I think it should be better if SONY alerts customers about it, to avoid many posts and complaints about this issue.

Now my Xperia comes back to new life! 😉

my friend i do have the xperia p with ics..the problem with ics was never the battery while on sleep but the battery consumption while using it...to be specific the problem with ics is when you use actievely the phone ..apart from this sony itself promised with extended battery mode x4 longer battery life..which is almost true. when you dont use it it could last for a week..what we expect from sony is to achieve battery performance when using the phone like GB or better and when not using it like Google advertise about ICS, simple as that...

I know, in fact we all want that from our Xperia P 😉 However, I've to report here that after 3 days since my last message, and using my device, let's say, normally (some calls, data connections, wifi, bluetooth) the BATTERY EXPERIENCE is much better now compared just after the upgrade to ICS and also compared to the previous operating system version.

I can say that ICS slightly improved my battery life, I was expecting much more to be honest, but 10-15% more (it's my approx. estimation, since we cannot calculate it exactly) is always more ...
