My new Sony Xperia S LT26i wont power on.

Okay, so here is the problem. I just got my new Xperia S and I have not been able to turn it on.. not even once.

I tried holding down the power button for 30 seconds or longer, I've tried holding down power button + volum up for 5-10 seconds.

And nothing happend... I have been charging it for 2 hours now, and there is a red light on top of it..

Can anyone help me with this?

Did you hold power and volume up untill you could feel 3 continuous vibrations

If that doesn't work try to run a repair using SUS from below

emma.extranet.sonyericsson.com/update_service_setup

As this doesn't require your phone to be turned on to repair

I held the buttons down for 2 minutes and nothing happend.

And the update service was no good because windows wont detect the phone at all..

You need to install PCC 1st then which will install drivers

www-support-downloads.sonymobile.com/Software%20Downloads/PC%20Companion/Sony%20PC%20Companion_2.10.094_Web.exe

Then when you connect in flashmode which is volume down then connect usb lead it should then install the driver for it thus allowing you to use SUS to run a repair

This didn't work either. The only thing my phone does is showing a red light.

how about if you connect it to the wall charger press and hold the volume up and hold it until it vibrates, once it does let it charge for an hour

that's quite odd, this might be a dumb question did you try different wall chargers, usb cable and wall sockets?

Quite odd indeed. I tried different wall chargers and cables... and everyone of the seem to work since the phone is displaying a red light.

ok, let me understand this, as long as it's connected to the wall charger the LED is solid red and when you press and hold the power button and volume up it vibrates but it doesn't turn on?

it doesn't matter how long you leave it connected to the wall charger the led is solid red? not orange or yellow but red?

have you dropped the phone or got it wet?

Yes, and it's even red when it's plugged into my computer. But I never got it to vibrate.

It's just red, nothing else.

you might have to take it to a sony repair center, how long do you hold the power button & volume up? hold it for 10 seconds or so, remember that you have to press them at the same time

Sometimes the red light goes away (while charging) and I have to unplugg and plugg it back in to get the light back..

I hace tried the 10 second trick without any luck.

I guess I have to take it back and get a new one...

yeah, it seems that either the connector or the battery or worse the motherboard it's acting up

meu xperia s aconteceu a mesma coisa e nada o que eu faço consigo ligar ele, quando coloco ele no carregador so acende aquele led vermelho e nao consigo ligar.

se consegui ligar o seu me avise ok?

I have exact the same problem after I did reboot from recovery ...

I try different chargers and usb cables , put more than 8 hours connected on charger , but nothing happened just red led sometimes on and after it goes off ,

I try using power/volume up when pluged to charger , in this situation red led starts blinking till I left the keys...

would you please , help me to reset my xperia s in other method like if possible by a pc or ...

abouit a week ago the same happened but on that time before that I had more than 70% charged and after 4 hour had been on charged the led goes on green , and I could be able to reset the phone and put it in flash mode, but in this time I han about 6% charged buttery and when it happened I can't reset my phone more than two days...

I though in this situation the buttery wouldn't able to chrged continiusly and when connected to charger it charged and discharged simultionaly thus we couldn't turn on the phone, in my opinion if we could be able to use a turbo charger or charging the buttery on onother way it would be solved , but If we could be able to reset the phone also solve it ...

please help us

you should take it to a sony repair center if the above suggestions won't work
