Disappointed to say the least.

It's a bit frustrating that the Ion is still running Gingerbread while phones that came out after the Ion (Sony brand and others) are already talking about getting Jelly Bean or already have it. I don't understand how Sony's FLAG SHIP phone is getting the least amount of attention. Every other day there is some news about every other Sony phone except for the Ion. Stop making new phones every week and concentrate on the ones that your customers already have. I've heard that my AT&T Ion is maybe getting the update in September but I highly doubt it, knowing AT&T. Remind me again why this phone wasn't launched with Ice Cream Sandwich? Didn't Sony debut this phone like 6 month's prior to it being released? Sounds like more than enough time to me to get ICS running on it, whether it's unlocked or tied to a company contract. I don't like to whine and what not because Sony is a good company and I appreciate the updates, I really do. But there are just certain thing's you shouldn't have to wait for. I'll just leave it at that Lol Let the negative comments begin...

I've been saying the exact same thing everywhere. And I'll I get is a rep saying to check the Product Blog. Why would I check something that I know doesn't have anything about what I want? Such a gorgeous phone, nice specs and running on Gingerbread on Q3 while other phones are launched with ICS and will be updated to Jelly Bean soon. Sony should update the Ion soon to ICS if not to Jelly Bean for all of the frustration and disappointment I have to go through with the Ion. Where is Sony in all of this?? Announcing a new phone every 3 days and being silent about this whole ordeal. They've only updated the Xperia S and the Xperia P and have announced updates for the Xperia U, Sola and the Go. What about the Ion (LT28i, LT28at)??

All I can hope for is that I get my update in September. The unlocked versions of the phone should get it before the AT&T version. At least that's how it SHOULD work. From what I hear, they'll be getting it around the same time, or maybe after. I might have a new phone by then, so who knows.

You must have gotten the HSPA model. I have the LTE model and as far as I know, none of the LTE varients have been updated.

Forget Jelly Bean, we'll get lucky Sony if still working on ICS by the way the support is answering our questions.

Support - Sony and Support don't seem to go together in the formation af a sentence. They do not tread into areas they have no answers beyond the "pat" hurry up and wait - we gave it to the carriers.... My Samsung S3 shipped with ICS, has already received a minor update to add auto-brighness, improve battery life and tweaks to O/S. This from a phone that was manufactured and shipped PRIOR to the Sony Ion. Next month the carrier is flipping the LTE switch in my area so finally going to feel real power on an already powerful phone. Will be lucky if Sony has even posted the ICS update that should have shipped on the Ion that I will have to unpack and run the update (If as crappy as what they did on the 2011 phones not too hopefull for improvements on a terrible phone) and bemuse myself. Laughable thinking of what the Ion cannot do in comparison the the S3 which has another neat feature - removeable battery!

I bet you miss the part where the Galaxy S3 requires a requires a special type of MHL adapter to be connected to a HDMI whereas teh Xperia Ion came with a standard microHDMI port.

Conclusion - No more extra investment if you want to connect to a HDMI if you are using the Xperia Ion.

sadly that's about to change with the new Xperia T it has MHL not micro HDMI anymore it seems that Sony is following Apple's steps, selling expensive docks and cables, at least we can use any adaptor on the market, but sony should follow Apple in other ways like

1) keep updating their 3year old phones (the iphone 3GS is about to get iOS 6)

2) their phone go on sale soon after they are announced

3) recalls even on their old hardware

etc

few things I envy from apple.

Absolutely agree with you.

Still do not understand why need to make product announcement 3-6mths prior.

Just let the speculations fry and it will get hotter with rumours.

No gain but lose in early announcement without the product.
