xperia p notification problem

day b4 yesterday i updated my xperia p to ICS. till now all went good but just 10 min b4 notification ringtone doesn't seem to work, the phone only vibrates while notifying something(new message, or any popup....etc ). please help me out in this. tried changing my notification tone, set the volume to max but nthng worked for me.

there might be an app acting up, just repair it with SUS or PCC

thanks uliwooly, this notification problem occured when i intalled Viber app. then i looked into your suggestion that "there might be an app acting up", thats why I uninstalled that app and rebooted my device, and guess what! notification tone started sounding. thanks for the helpful suggestion. anybody facing this problem, should uninstall viber, skype etc to rectify this problem and may wait for sony to rectify this problem pertaining to these apps.

sorry to say that but again my phone notifications tone are not responding, the phone just only vibrates whenever new message comes or there is something to notify. The problem creater was not that app, that is this ICS upgrade. In GB i had no problem whatsoever but after upgrading i have been in a big mess. tried updating my software with SUS but still the same. Switch off n on makes it(notification tone) work but only for 30-40 min. it is disgusting to switch off your phone in every 30-40 min. Sony please help, Please fix this bug. I am really a big diehard fan of Sony.

Hi Gaurav8180, also am facing the same problem with the notification sound this problem happened only after updating to ICS so it is clear that this is a bug and hopely sony will solve this problem soon.

I think this problem is for everyone no matter how you update the phone to ICS. I first updated through the PC Companion and the notification ringtone was not working. After reading the forums, i updated thru the Sony update Service. The notification ringtone seem to be back for a while and after sometime suddenly stopped. It works for a while after we restart the phone and suddenly it goes.

Please provide an update to this soon.

We are unhappy with this. My phone is just 3 days old and i am not at all happy with the kind of bugs it has. Apart from the bugs, its a good phone. With the bugs fixed, it can be a better phone.!

I also ended up having the same problem of no sound on SMS alert and other alerts after the ICS update..The problem is with the software...Sony needs to release a patch or firmware update immediately to fix this issue or many other users will soon be getting the same problems in their devices...

People are still updating their phones you know and the problem will become apparent with more users switching to ICS

Guys I just found that Sony is releasing new Firmware for Xperia P ..lets hope for the best..the only problem is that we dont know when its gonna release in our place if it ever does and also dont know if the notificatiobn sound problem will go away.

Hello guys, make sure you don't have any app installed such as friendcaster which has option of notification quiet times. It will stop your notifications from ringing system wide. If you have then disable the notification quiet time setting or set it as per your prefrence so you don't miss other notifications. I earlier had the same issue and the culprit was friendcaster in my case as I had set notification quiet tiems. Just dsiable that setting in the respective app. Hope this helps...

If it still doesn't work after the update it's wise to try performing a repair also first of all. You can perform it with PCC in the section called Support Zone.

I think the support team should stop telling people to perform a repair on their device because it ain't getting people anywhere to sloving the notification issue, instead of this, try to find real solutions to the issues users find.

Yes you are rite my friend. Sony should consider this problem ASAP and fix it in the next ICS release. This problem has become evident among many Xperia P users now. So this is the right time for sony to go for a hit. just do it Sony:smileyhappy:.

hey m having the same problem on my Xperia P...

but i have also noticed while chatting on Gtalk i get notification tone...but other wise for anyother event like (sms, email, whatsapp) i don't get anything...

I have tried everything what the Sony Customer Care has told me to..

1. I have tried to Update again.

2. used SUS.

3. factory reset.

4. repair.

but still no luck..when i restart my phone notification works but only for a few hours..which means obviously there is nothing wrong wid the setup or settings...

I M A HUGE SONY FAN..nd i like Xperia P a lot...Its a gud phone really snappy to use...great display...gud features...have no other issues..

but if so many people are having the same issues...I guess you should realy accept that something is wrong..which won't just get fixed by the 4 points that u guys tell us to do.....

I REALLY LOVE MY XPERIA P..nd Notification being the only problem...I think its a realy great buy...

but PLEASE FIX THIS ISSUE...

Hi guys, I assume many of us must have Watsapp installed, just like I do. I had been facing the same problem ever since I installed the ICS build. But to my surpirse, the latest update to Watsapp has somehow been co-incident with my notification tones working normally all throughout the day. Do you guys agree?

nah, I thought whatsapp is the issue, so I removed it totally, and I'm still facing the same issue :S
