Xperia Mini Pro - won't boot up

Hi all,

Have my Xperia X10 mini pro just over two weeks now and I've noticed some problems with rebooting the phone. It's never just come back on when I press the power button. It takes 5 or 6 attempts at it. I'll get the vibration and then nothing; screen just stays blank. Usually, however, I can get it to work with some persistence. Problem is, this morning it has refused to boot up at all! I just get the vibrate (sometimes) and nothing else. It's plain refusing to work!

Anyone got any ideas?

Do you have a Virgin Mobile SIM card ? I believe there is a problem with them.

Hi,

I don't have Virgin, no. I'm in Ireland and it's on the Meteor network but, interestingly enough, I removed the Sim and started it up and it worked fine! Thing is the battery is nearly empty now even though I charged it up fully last night. Strange!

Could be an inappropriate type of SIM card.

My mini pro wouldn't boot up at all and virgin customer services told me that they were exchanging phones because their SIM cards had turned out not to work in the mini pro. I've had to use a T-Mobile card to get my phone to work.

Oooohhh...that doesn't sound good. It's only just released here so I'm sure I'll have to wait a bit to find out if other people on Meteor are having the same problem.

Thanks for the advice anyway. At least it let me boot up again!

Try Update using Sony Ericsson Update Service or try using the repair option on SE PC Companion.

Might have found out the cause of this problem!

I was using the advanced task killer program on the phone a lot to try and save the battery. I was closing down everything as I went along. Some times it would cause the pin screen to come back up, kind of like the system was rebooted but without the full shut down. I stopped using this as a test and I've not had the problem since.

My thinking is that, as with computers, the task killer is killing something that causes the phone to shut down incorrectly.

I'll do some further testing on it the weekend to see if I can pinpoint what exactly is causing it.

That didn't solve the problem. If you restore the OS and do a factory rset. I can make my phone to bootup with the sim card. but if its turned off or runs out of battery, you have to do everything again. its clear this is a generalized problem and i dont see anyone from SE contributing to find a solution at all.

best get your phone checked out. The battery could be faulty. try charging it with another charger, if it does not work, you may really have an issue with your battery.

Yeah I'm still having the same problem. It's pot luck whether it comes back on or not when it shuts down.Starting to do my head in now.

Will be talking to the store on Monday about it.

Hello, im having the same problem here. Change the phone and the sim card already and problem persist. I cant regret more about this phone, VERY LATE OS and this kind of problem. Sony Ericson is the first and last buy, what junk company, they dont care even to read our problems.

It appears that there is a problem between telephone and SIM card from some providers.

You can try to charge the battery without SIM card, and then leave phone to turn on with SIM card inserted for whole night (for me it took 4 hours to start). But this doesn't work for me anymore.

Reinstalling software completely (with loosing all your apps and settings) appears to always work... (you can backup your settings when you remove SIM card)

Is anybody from SE going to answer? Should we try return the phones, or will there be a fix for this?

Help! My Sony Ericsson x10 Mini Pro doesn't start up! The past few days, when I used the keyboard to type, the screen will have some problem then hang. And it will always auto off. But there is no problem to on. Now, I cannot even on it! It only flashes black light but the word 'sony ericsson' was not showed just like the past. I am sure there is still battery inside as I charged it the day before.
