New Sony Xperia U: various issues

Hi,

I bought my Xperia U last week.

After some issues I finally managed the software upgrade and to connect it to my wifi at home.

The main challenge now is battery life:

It drains from 100% to 0% in 5 hours.

No wifi connected, no GPS and running applications stopped manually.

1) What do I need to do to extend battery life? I have installed advanced task killer so far.

2) How can I remove pre-installed apps? e.g. facebook, recommender

I seem to only be able to "force stop" it, but not permanetly remove them in the app setting section.

3) I receive a text message from my bank everytime my credit card is being used. For some strange reason the sender is not shown as my bank, but a different person from my contacts. That's the case with 2 differerent banks. The service works fine with correctly matched sender address on other phones.

4) How do I get the map screen position moving along with my location while driving?

5) Access to the contacts in the phone is super slow (it takes up to 30 seconds before I can start typing a name) and then the contact app times out sometimes. I get the option to force stop or wait.

6) and last question:

When I installed "whats app", I received an error message that my version is too old. Even downloading the latest version from the play store I receive the same message.

unistall task killer it will drain the battery alot recommend not to use it

but if your battery is dieing after 5hours then that seems a problem with the firmware or your phone

what update have you installed

1) Check battery usage due to wifi and data. do not use battery saver app (pre installed in phone) as i believe it causes power drain when battery voltage goes low.

2)you cant remove facebook and likes without rooting. I too wanted to remove FB but was told i cant do that.

3) this may be some bug in this buggy phone:smileywink:

4) if you are using Google Maps you cant do that until google provides this feature

5)it is slow and seems to be slower in .184 build. so lets hope it improves in future build. otherwise what is the use of dual core and all that RAM ?

6) but could you update or not ?

I have uninstalled the app killer. It is cumbersome though to stop all apps manually in the running apps screen.

Especially if they keep coming up (Facebook, google services, help, gmail, com.sonyericsson.usbux, google plus...)

The update was for the .184 software

Will keep an eye an the battery drainage again...

i got a new xperia u but im stuck on b1 think its due to i live in uk i think

if you use internet alot that will drain battery alot

when i used internet for 20min i lost 15% battery so internet on android mobiles do kill battery

so if you been wifi or data using for over 20minutes then that what the problem is

May I ask why do you want to stop the apps?

Android will stop them if it needs RAM for something else, don't worry.
If you're annoyed with the apps running that you never use but can't uninstall, try going to manage apps and clear the data for those apps you don't want running; that should stop them and keep them that way.

About the battery problem. It can be caused by any app. I have problem too so i checked and adw launcher ex was eating seventy percent of battery...download go power master app from google play and check consumption of applications.

Also, installing the little app 2x Battery can help out a lot as well.

thought stopping apps would make the battery last longer...

Also getting mixed advise on the use of battery/power saving apps...

1) The battery drained even without internet use, wifi or data. I will monitor further after unstalling some apps.

2) That's a pity, I think these might be some of power drain culprits...

4&5)we have to wait for this one

6) yesterday I managed to update Wzapp and also installed viber as well

Uncheck LiveWare Manager options see what happens. That app eats battery and extends battery charging time.

post a screenshot of battery usage, that might give some info on what's causing the issue.
