Camera Key Not Working

The camera key in my Xperia Sola is not working. No quick launch although selected in camera. No capturing, it only show the green rectangle then when I remove my finger of the camera key no capturing. Nor working in video capturing. Should I get a substitution?

When the green rectangle shows on the screen are you pressing down the camera key harder, as the green rectangle is to advise that the camera is in focus however you are required to hold down the camera key harder to take the picture.

Yes, When I pressed too much harder it works. Will it always need to press that strong?

I feel I'm damaging the key not taking photograph!

Camera key on sola is very stiff on every device, not just you. About quick launch: if you want to capture photo quickly, just press camera key when screen is locked. This have to be activated from camera settings through.

Also, if the Launcher/Camera app FC (crashes) then the camera button will not open the Camera app from the Launcher or other Apps. Stiff button is a design defect.

Here's the transcript from a short Q&A with Sony Xperia Chat Support.

Me: I'm worried that I'm going to break the camera physical button on this phone, it is very stiff

Me: it has to be pressed firmly to focus and even harder to capture the photo, it's a new phone; I've had it for 2-3 days, should I be concerned?

#####: Okay well the button is fairly stiff normally, if you feel it is too stiff to use you could contact your point of sale to see if you get a replacement?

Me: is the option available to have the camera button serviced at a Sony Mobile service center?

#####: Yes certainly I only suggested trying to get a replacement as it was purchased recently.

I'm also feeling same...

It's too hard to press. I think that it is the big thing left problamatic in this hardware...

Sony should try to minimize the pains of users.

ICS sola got some problems when executing Quick Launch when in standby (your screen is off and locked)...

Well, sola's camera key is indeed a bit stiff but it is quite responsive when executing QL (in my case Gingerbread)...
