Hi, I participate in a community on orkut only speaking about Xperia U and we always talked about how the photos of the Xperia U are terrible. Or worse, as they are unacceptable.

Our community has about 150 members dedicated solely to the Xperia U. We always try to fix the picture by changing the scene mode, because scene mode changes everything, color balance, focus, etc and everyone continues to experience very disappointing. Now it seems that the cause of the problem arose, when reading a news about Xperia S.

The Problem in Xperia U looks the same on Xperia S. The pictures come out unacceptable because of the autofocus is ridiculous, no matter what scene mode selected, or the mode chosen focus. Every 3 photos, 2 are unacceptable and the other is more acceptable by faking personal (self-deception) than quality itself. We were wrong, the problem arent scene mode or focus mode. The problem is in focus software.

So the photos of the Xperia U has an extremely high level of noise, which is also unacceptable for a phone soo expensive and in 2012. Even my first Android phone T-Mobile G1 in 2009 had a thousand times better pictures than the Xperia U, (and it is in 2009 with 2012). But the main problem is the focus, then the noise. Without focus the picture is so bad it's better to throw in the trash.

I hope that Sony has embarrassed the work they did and correct it.

Yes, it's an old story, we know it, they know it. There are previous threads about the camera even since June. More about the grainy look than the focus.

The outcome quality of the photos depends very much on the light conditions the photos is taken in, but we're of course constantly working on improving the overall software including optimizing the camera.
