I dont think it has anything to do with hardware as according to various renowned 3rd party developers, any phone which can run ICS can run JB perhaps, even better, same was stated by google when they launched it, Its just upto the OEMs whether they are willing to facilitate their customers or not on the same...

Well, the fact of the matter is I paid a lot of my hard earned money for my phone. My phone is Arc S. If updating it to 4.1 makes it faster and google, who write codes for android, says if your phone can run 4.0 it will be able to run 4.1. Now, If sony wants to be an idiot and not support the phone I bought only few months ago with latest releases, I will never buy a sony phone again and so will countless of other customers. If you say you will support it for 18 months, man up and keep your promise. I hate the fact that I have to wait 2 seconds for contacts to load up on 4.0.4, I paid top money for a phone and I want the software which will make best use of the hardware. It has 1.4ghz processor and 512MB ram, If it was a PC , i would have been able to install windows 7 on it. You are trying to tell me that the phone is too old for 4.1 ? is this some kind of a joke ?

Another stab in the back, thanks Sony!!
I can't believe you still have the guts to play with your customers like that. It should be 100% sure that the xperia's of 2011 receive the update to JB if they have the power to run ICM.

I bought my neo with 2.3.3, I had an update to 2.3.4 en today, 20 july 2012 i'm still waiting for ICS. And this might be the last update I will receive? Shame on you Sony.

If I don't receive the update to JB, I will ditch my xperia for a galaxy, and Sony will lose another customer.

Well Sony already gave us a small hint about 2011 Xperia update plans by saying that: "18 months of updates does not necessarily refer to Android version updates."

So I highly doubt that they will update 2011 Xperias with Jelly Bean. We will be lucky if we get a stable update for ICS.

HTC already confirmed that HTC One X, S and XL are getting the Jelly Bean update. These phones are the highest class. So thinkg about that... if HTC (which are the leaders right now) won't be updating even the mid-class phones, don't expect from Sony to update its old 2011 Xperias.

Well this is just my guess. Maybe Arc S can be updates or not. So I'll suggest you to wait untill Sony reveals the list with the devices which will get the update. They already confirmed that they are testing Jelly Bean on their phones and soon there will be information about that.
