error...camera not available- on xperia u

whenever i use my camera for a while, or just tweak some of its settings...the camera stops responding...and i get a message..."ERROR...camera not available"....i cant access the camera until i restart the fon...what should i do? my xperia u is just 15 days old...also i get too low volume on all my video recordings...plz help

Hi, see if repairing phone software works ....

Here's the download link for Update Service, http://www.sonymobile.com/gb/tools/update-service/. Download and install to PC/Laptop, launch it and follow on-screen instructions. Be aware that this will erase phone data completely.

I'm having same the exact problem. and my phone is also around 15 days old. is this a software or hardware problem, sometimes when I open the camera I get a black screen and when I switch to homescreen by home button it says " Camera is not responding"
I get two options Force Close and Wait,

if I press Force Close then camera doesn't work until I restart it.
and sometimes I get Crash errors for Cosmic Flow app and Application Installer.

will updating my phone software be of any help...instead of repairing it??? and is there any way through which i can keep all my apps safe before repairing the software......?? and can u help me on the issue of low volume in video recordings??

man...it seems u just elaborated my own problem.....:)

dats because exactly the same thing happens with me...its really embarrassing sometimes...never xpected this from a sony device...plus i also face low volume in video recordings....

Check if you have the latest software build in your phone. If yes, do factory reset and then update phone software again. This should work. If not go to sony authorized service centre immediately.

Hi There,

Anyone got this sort out? By any means mentioned above, whatever factory reset or sony service center. My phone just 5 days old and had the same problem, "Camera not available" or "Camera not responding" from time to time...

This is really embarassing when someone call me on skype and i have to 'force close' it.!!!

I faced this problem once. I think it was due to Quick Capture. I never used Quick Capture since then. Now my phone is all right.

I have already faced this issue three days...and now I seems to solve it steps are as follows:

First make sure the issue whether relative to sdcard.remove your external sdcard and reboot your phone.after reboot you can try your camera function more.If the error doesn't appear anymore then you can sure what caused camera malfunction.

Next step I try to chek my sdcard health(third party tool) its state is normal and I format it use of phone feature.

As of now (around 4 hours) the error doesn't appear. I don't know why sdcard will influence camera function even you don't set the photo store path on it....

There is no external storage (Micro SD) card in the Xperia U !!!

I've the same problem to. When my xperia L nit more than one week, upgraded my phone to latest firmware 15.0.A.2.17 using update software inside phone directly, without using sony update service, no sdcard attached to my phone. First occurence when I used quick camera from lockscreen. Up till now, I've no found any solution except restart. This really annoying for me as this is new phone, no modding i.e. rooting I've do to my phone, fresh install from original firmware.

Not hardware prob. Just remove that camera app from system and install other camera app from play store.. My problem is solved

I have found the answer!

just goto Settings > Apps > All

and disable Xperia camera add-ons

My camera is OK after that!
