hey! guys I am unable to run android apps on my xperia u but my browser is running perfectly.

On opening any App it shows "check your network settings".

plz guys tell me something about it.:-/

what app are you trying to run? try clearing the apps's data, settings>apps>manage apps> look for the app and tap on clear data.

also check if you have the correct apn from your network

all android apps. Even I am not able to sign in the android market and I should tell you that i have just bought

XperiA U.

everything? like those apps that does not use network?

I suggest that you repair your phone with SUS/PCC

also dont forget to back up important data.

I think you have to get correct APN from your service provided. If already done select the same as default in Wireless& network settings>access point names. Also check you have selected preferred network to WCDMA (preferred)/GSM.

thanks, the probem was with APN and now the apps are running correctly except i am not able to register to google talk.it says "google talk: authentication failed". can you tell something about this?

are you from india....???

I have CORRECT answer for you....!!!!
select your apn as internet....
means as you know that , for ex tata docomo comes with three apns wap, mms and internet....!!!
so use internet as apn...!!!
and also there is a little problem for connecting....!!!
so try switching on and off for data connections.....!!!
it will surely work...

thnx, i selected my apn as internet but still i am not able to dwnload any app from android market.

i signed in android market and it opened correctly but when i tried to download opra mini, fruit ninja and

TED app, it started but showed "downloading" for a long time and then the result was "downloading failed". i tried a lot of times but got the same result.

what should i do???

is it some kind of a network problem or problem with my android system???

also, on selecting the apn to internet i am not able to run my phone browser.

And! yes, i am from "INDIA".

i also have the same problem bro.

i have bsnl 2g plan.

so its definitely not service providers fault.

maybe we have messed with some settings.

for others :

do we need to do any settings for downloading apps from market coz i was able to download a pdf from another webiste.

plz note that market detects our gmail account but cannot download the app.

do you have the correct APN settings, just google: APN android settings __name of your network___

also check the 3G coverage

i am having bsnl as my service provider too. i selected "bsnlnet" as my apn.

but my phone browser works only with the apn "bsnllive".

What apn you are using?????

is your browser working with apn as "bsnlnet"???

and regarding downloading the apps i don't know about the additional settings.

with bsnlnet - apps like toi, gmail, youtube, etc can use internet but not browser. after launching the market can browse all the apps & after saying install it gets stuck in downloading; same as what you said earlier.

with bsnllive - apps are unable to use internet. browser can use internet. but same thing as said before for market.

its a shame that i have to switch the apn everytime i have to use the browser coz i normally use the bsnlnet apn as specified by bsnl.

if you get the solution of downloading apps then plz let me know. :smileyinfo:

for internet access the apn is supposed to be bsnlnet.

bsnllive is for bsnl special services like buying songs, games, etc from bsnl.

i have 2g connection & not 3g.

but still i can use hspa connection which is fast.

the problem lies in downloading apps.

i have mentioned the details over here.

uliwooly what can you recommend?

You may try with "Setup guide" from apps menu list after deleting all APN. Setup guide downloaded the correct APN settings for me. I'm using Vodafone India Tamilnadu.

But i have no clear idea with BSNL.

it shows "CelloneEast" & "CelloneSouth" only; whereas i fall under "CelloneWest".

lol.

the settings for apn were sent to me by bsnl call centre so i doubt anything wrong in the apn settings.

hey i got the solution

just update "android market" to "paly store" (ALL IS SAME JUST THE NAME HAS BEEN CHANGED) and then try with the apn as "bsnlnet".

I did this but was not able to come out of the downloading problem:smileyconfused:

HANG ON!!!!!!!

BUT AFTER DOING A MASTER RESET THE PLAY STORE WORKED CORRECTLY AND I AM NOW ABLE TO DOWNLOAD APPs FROM PLAY STORE.......

BUT BEFORE DOING A RESET BACKUP YOUR IMPORTANT DATA.

hope it works on your xperia also.

1. how did u update market to play store?

2. what do u mean by master reset? do u mean factory reset?

well actually i had google play store when i bought this phone. however i had to do factory reset to solve an issue. after that i have market on my phone & not play store.
