Xperia Arc (LT15a) Ringtone Problem

Hi all...

I have an mp3 file that was working fine on gingerbread. I have upgraded to ICS and although I haven't had the phone off silent since, I did tonight. Incoming call was vibrate only. I tried to reset my ringtone but it fails - just plays a "dong" sound.

I've tested the file on my computer and it is the correct tone and plays fine. I've tried rebooting, battery removal, changing folder locations, resetting the tone, renaming the tone and nothing has worked. Other mp3 files seem to work ok as ringtone though but if i try & play via astro it errs 'cannot play file'.

I know the file is ok & I am about to go postal because of this failure to work. Please help!!

Can you try to remove it from the phone and then transfer it from the computer again?

It sounds like there's something corrupt with this file (at least according to the phone) since other files are working.

Hi Markus,

I have tried that without success. I've even tried a different sd card with no success. The file plays fine on computer just not on the ph. sooo annoying!!

Sorry to hear that.

If you look at the specifications of this file and compare it with the specs. from one that is working (preferably you do this in the computer), can you notice any differences?

Since this file is working the computer and other files are working in the phone it sounds like a compatibility issue meaning this song is different in some way making it impossible for the phone to use.
