Hi Sony Support,

I am wondering and got shocked to know why we have low ram when i can see other brand mfg have more ram say 873 mb of out of which will have 400-500 mb always free depends on load.

But we hardly have only 200 mb most of the time.

I came across this and wanted a justification when and under what circumstances do we download 250 mb of data which needs ram to hold intead of the hefty storage 25gb.

I wish that if we can reduce the download cache to half the size then we can have a considerable amout of size for memory hungry apps.

Find the snapshot for the same its clearly from the ram side the Os is customized to that.

I cannot tell why the memory allocation is the way it is. I'm sure there's a good reason to all this but I don't have enough information to give you a good explanation.

I will feed your comment back to the developers.

What do you think about this forum? Let us know by doing this short survey.

Hi Johan,

I could understand that each hardware the requirement change. but 125 mb is too high and in loosing side for Xperia S being 1gb ram as advertised. We are fine if a decent amout was allotted as other brand can be able to allot as per the Android specification of 70 percent for user and 30 percent for OS.

But we are not even 70 % but XP is up by 77%. Instead of lack of few good OS core features are not included.

Its just right time to rethink the implementation so as next Update of Jeally Bean would give us butter smooth experience.

As currently games demand more memory . Assuming average size of games are close to 1+ gb . Recently games even go up and beyond 2gb. Thanks to 32gb design but not sure if we didnt had enough space to have Micro SD slot. As that could have expanded the storage limit.

Also wanted to know when will the support for ExtFat & NTFS will be available in Android. I know if not NTFS atleast ExtFat should do the needfull.

Keep us updated with good news with Jeally Bean update which will include all the worthfull suggestion.

For all i understand OS needs some ram and not all ram.

I could see lower end model like XP is able to get wooping 801 mb ram . Doesnt it not run on OS and why only XS having 635 mb what happen to the rest . I dont demand 1gb at all i demand as per the design 70 perscentage for user and 30 for OS.. even in this case we are given 63.5 percentage if 70 then we should be getting atleast 710 something like that I was really upset only on this being not allotting enough ram for user rather OS which will not be a problem at all.

Do you thing OS loads seperately not at all. Assume reserved space is for OS then when OS loads even say statup apps loads it should not be taking more than 200mb but actual is 450 even if depend on the no of apps not all the apps are loaded in the boot.

its all OS still loads in the provided Ram of 635 and i dont think this is a wise decision

This makes me to think i should have waited for 2gb version of new phones.
