Sounds like it could be wise to try repairing your phone's software. You can easily perform the repair with Sony PC Companion, available for download on the link below.

The repair option is availalble in the section called Support Zone.

http://www.sonymobile.com/se/tools/pc-companion/

What do you think about this forum? Let us know by doing this short survey.

I too have a similar problem with my GPS. It takes unusually long times for fixing (10-15 min). Support team suggests to repair phone software, but currently it's no working. It is showing the same error for everyone. So the only option now is to go Toby service center near by. In my case even the service center is not working, so I've given up trying. I think pcc will work after next update release, so waiting for it.

@kenaney: what is the problem you are facing exactly, is it about fixing times or GPS is not connecting at all? was it working fine before?

Here's my original thread http://talk.sonymobile.com/thread/43667

I get sats only outdoors. sometimes it helps to exit google map app and then re start it and then i get gps fix immediately. If you see no gps sats by any app i think you have to visit service centre:smileysad:

Hi kenaney ! Check with Google Maps. (1) Turn on GPS & Data(for connection to internet) (2) start up google maps outdoors and check if it shows your position with accuracy of less than 20 - 30 mts.

If your position accuracy should be improving within 5 minutes at most.

In my phone (B.1.564) When I do above I get position accuracy of 8 mts on GMaps within 30 sec to 2 minutes. If it takes longer i exit GMap and restart then i get fix immediately. (all this is outdoors or moving in car)

some times it works even in apartments and houses. Depends on gps receiver antennae picking up signal even though weak. It works inside my single floor house sometimes.

Try using an app like GPS Test Plus. This will show the signal strength from each available satellite. This also has under Menu/Settings a button to Clear AGPS which often helps. You always need a good view of the sky for the initial GPS position if not used for a day.

The GPS on my Sola is good and will get a lock from being off a day in 1-2 minutes.

Sorry, that is unfortunate.

When I am outside with a clear view of the whole sky, 5-7 satellites are received and a position fix will be made in 1-2 minutes. Once I obtain a fix, the GPS will continue to work with much weaker signals. The GPS on my Sola is better than the GPS on an earlier S-E Neo so I am happy. The hardware is likely the same for your Xperia U.

Hi ! A minimum 4 satellites are required to get gps fix or for it to work properly. If you are getting 3 there is no reason why shouldnt you get more :smileyconfused:. There are always 5 - 7 satellites visible anywhere in the world ! So I thnk only sony can solve this prob (:smileydevil:)

Showing that many satellites means your AGPS data is corrupt and should be cleared.

Try using an app like GPS Test Plus. It has under Menu/Settings a button to Clear AGPS.

You always need a good view of the sky for the initial GPS position if not used for a day.
