topic video quality and stabilisation in XPERIA archive

Two questions:

First:

Is it possible to increase video quality by software update.

Xperia S sharpness/crispness/resolution compared to competition is not so good. Maybe video can be tweaked by Sony. SGS3 has same sensor as SGS2 but improved quality, so it's possible.

Second:

I did lot of tests regarding image stabilisation and noticed that there's no difference in image stabilisation on or off. I see difference onscreen but not when played on PC.

Is it a bug ?

Yes, video and picture quality can be optimized with software.

I have not really check the difference between image stabilization on/off myself but I spoke to a colleague of mine and you be able to see the difference and I have not heard about this before, that it won't.

Thanks for your reply.

But is there a chance that video quality will be improved with ICS update. I believe Sony has a reputation in videocamera's. I'm sure they can beat Samsung or iphone.

About image stabilization. If it's working, it's not great imho. Many review sites and people mention shaky video. "Steady shot" in the old days was Sony's selling point.

I believe the video stabilization problem is due to the accelerometer, when the telefone is stable in some positions the accelerometer detects shaking. I tried using google street view in compass mode to look around and the image is shaking a lot making it really hard to use

If I use a leveling app named "Bubble" it's not very stable especially when holding vertical.

In service menu it's a bit jittery. Haven't tried street view yet.

Playing games is not a problem

Update: tried streetview in compass mode and it is very shaky. Must be the accelerometer.
