since i bought the phone on 31st of May 2012, it came with GingerBread .42 and once i open it; it ask to update to .62, every thing was fine and the Bluetooth was working fine with my buit-in Bluetooth car kit for Honda Accord EX which does not has a screen to browse the contacts, no, just voice dial, call reject call, and end call, thats all, very simple, now since i update to Ice Cream Sandwich, ICS Android 4.0.4 on 14th June 2012, it refuse to pair, or in other words, it try to pair and keep trying but nothing happen, i reset the car kit, and tried to pair with other phones, Blackberry, Samsung Ace, all good, so i reset again and try with Xperia mini pro, nothing again, so i google the issue and i found people who had Ford, Fiat, Volvo, Alfa Romio, all had the same problem with even different Xperia ARC and XPERIA Pro

is there a solution or we had to wait for another update to fix the bluetooth - will it be in the same update that will fix the qwerty-azerty problem or we had to wait for two updates?

any one else had the same problem with their car kit?

P.S: i cannot pair from my car kit as i don't have any screen to monitor, so i had to do the pairing from my phone, and already tested to assure that the car kit is working fine, any suggesstions?

Car model and year: Honda Accord 2008

Model name of the Bluetooth module/car kit: (CARBT 2.1)

Phone model: Xperia Mini Pro SK17i

Android version and build number: 4.0.4, 4.1.B.0.431

Short description of your problem: MY-CAR appears in list of bluetooth devices.

Hi Johan

I've shared my bluetooth pairing issue under another SE post http://talk.sonymobile.com/message/213979I .

I'm from Australia i too am experiencing the pairing issues with my ARC S iwith ICS 4 and the factory fitted in car bluetooth of my Holden Caprice. The phone tries to pair but that is as far as it gets, i don't even get the option to enter the pass code. There are no settings that i can make to the factory fitted kit, the pairing can only be done by the phone and once its paired only then can i enter the pass code and make connection. But with the ARC S, wihch i;ve recently purchased and immediately upgraded the s/w to ICS 4.0.4 it does not pair at all. I didn't have the opportunity to test with the previous firmware that hte phone was originally installed with but all i know it definately doesnt pair with ICS 4.04. Previously i had a HTC Desire with android 2.2 and i connected with no problems at all, i can even connect easily enough with my wife's iphone 4.

I wait in anticipation for someone to come up with a resolution or even for Sony to support it's customers and resolve this issue.

Do you have an update from the SE devolpers who are looking into this issue?

Hi,

Further to my email yesterday re the pairing issue I'm experiencing with my new Sony Ericsson Xperia ARC S, I've tried to pair my son's Samsung Google Nexus mobile with android 4.0.4 as well, and not only did i managed to pair it with the bluetooth handsfree car kit in my '07 Holden Caprice but also the option to enter the pin code appeared and connected within seconds. So the pairing issue is definitely with the Xperia firmware and not the android 4.0.4 operating system itself.

I'd appreciate if someone from Sony could respond and provide a solution for all of us as soon as possible.

I knew i should've stuck with a reputable and reliable mobile phone brand that listens and provides a high quality service to its customers and resolves phones issues ASAP like Apple instead of purchasing a second rate and inferior branded mobile phone like Sony Ericsson.

Unfortunately i also i the problem that the Sony Experia Mini updated to ICS does not work well. Each time it requests the speakerphone of the machine to connect, whereas before, once recognized, it is connecting automatically. This is the price to pay to have updated Android? Mah!

Description of my problem. Phone finds car kit but does not come up with the option of entering the PIN code. After a delay it comes up with a communications error.

Sony need to get this problem fixed urgently. After the official upgrade to ICS both my Arc S and mini pro will not now connect to my Land Rover Discovery 3 (08 model). Both worked perfectly on gingerbread. A neo V running 2.3.4 still works.

It is definately a Sony problem as other ICS phones I've tried pair/connect without problem. And iPhones connect. And Blackberries connect. And Nokias running windows connect. And even my old HTC Tytn on WM5 connect. Infact everything I have tried will pair/connect OK. It is just Sony phones running ICS that have the problem.

Reading other threads it appears that an awful number of people have the same problem with many brands of cars (Ford, Toyota, Honda, Nissan, Peugeot, Citroen, Fiat, Alfa Romeo, Land Rover, Jaguar to name but a few) so it is not just one brand. There are some work arounds that work for some people but they do not work for me.

Sony have been informed about this problem months ago and appear to either be unable, unwilling or just not interested in fixing the problem. The only immediate solutions to my problem are a) downgrade to gingerbread b) buy a Samsung or HTC c) Sell my Land Rover.

I think I'll buy a Samsung or HTC as they both value their customers and support their products.

I hope Sony proves me wrong, but how long it took them to release the ICS upgrades I dont think they will get this problem sorted in the next 12 months...

If anybody from Sony should read this post, could they inform me if they are actually working on this problem and when is the fix going to be released? If not they will lose me as a customer for ALL of their products.

I don't believe that many people complaint about this problem and there is no responce from Sony yet, I don't believe that many will look for losing the benifet of ICS and force to downgrade to GB because they just bough the new phone and invest money with Sony and then they cannot use a simple feature which is connect to a car kit, I don't believe that Sony would not even care to listen and to solve an extreme problem which would compromise the safety of Sony users while they are driving, my business partners got angry with me now because I don't answer the phone while driving and they ask me to replace my junk phone, now I agree with them, it is junk not the device but the company and their developers who cannot fix a simple bug, first was the keyboard which they fix after a week or so, and since then the Bluetooth car kit pairing, if it is not important to Sony it is still important to the millions who bought Xperia phones and upgrade to ICS, I will consider Sony's act toward this problem as careless and insulting to their customers who choose the device carefully after long thinking and comparing phones, I did invest in time and money to shift from blackberry to Sony Xperia mini pro, time to find the best in features and size, money buying the device and application that serve my business after what I already bought in my blackberry, now I had to downgrade to GB in order to save myself from getting partners and customers more upset until I got another chance to buy a powerful phone with small size HTC probably

Possible solution (workaround).

(I have a Nissan Qashqai +2 but I am sure this will work on any car, see my fault description further above for details of my problem)

One suggestion from Sony that I found on the link "decowell" reffers to was to send a v-card file to my built-in car kit. Unfourtenately it wouldn´t solve this issue, probably since my telephone did not accept sending files to a headset (telephone indicates the found car as headset).

A possible solution is an app on Google play called "bluetooth file transfer" from "Medieval Software" (maybe others will also work).

After installing on telephone then pair the car-kit device to your phone using the app. At least in my case the app can discover the car-kit and also gives the possibility to enter the pin code.

After doing this the first time it really seems that I wouldn´t need the app once the phone once has been paired.

Good luck!

/Mattias
