Device encryption

HI all,

Is there a way of activating full device encryption in Arc S?

This seems to be a standard feature of ICS, so has it been disabled? Why?

I've already tested some apps from the market, as sugested here but those are folder focused thus don't solve the issue.

As i said before, SONY, can u please correct/update this issue? Otherwise the arc S (and other xperia 2011 family models) wont be able to take the step from a personal toy to a work connected device with corporative email enabled.

I guess that you will have to clarify what encryption you're looking for.

There are numerous way of having screen locks. But maybe you're thinking of encrypting files and such. Please clarify what you're looking for.

First of all, thanks for prompt response.

I'm actually talking about device encryption as described here, ie, a pin or even more complex password used to encrypt all data in device and sd card and needed on reboot.

It seems this should be found somewhere in "Settings\Security\Encrypt phone".

I am very interested in this option too. I would like to hear about plans of "encrypt phone" option. Will it be realised definitely, not realised definitely or wil try to realize?

This option is not available unfortunately and I don't have any information on why. Perhaps you could use some app from Play Store for this.

Hi Johan,

I deeply scanned the store looking for it, but none of the apps i found do the trick.

Actually there was something called whispercore that promised to enable encryption, but the develloper company has been bought by twitter almost 1 year ago, before the app could hit the market.

So, are there any news on this?

Is there any plan to include sd card encryption option for Arc S?

Why has a standard feature like this been disabled? I just cant understand, this would be much more important than a potential loss in performance.
