Just brought this phone 2 days ago, 1st had to instantly have a replacement becuase the back case didn't fit on properly..
So just got it home, looks good, screen quality is good, camera is good for considering it's 5mp,

however, the speaker is so pathetic! i'm playing music full volume and can literally whisper louder.. whats the hell!? i'm really gutted i've just shelled out on this because i always have music on in my room or shower and out and it's embarassingly quiet, your telling me that all the money sony makes which must be billions and they can't design a decent speaker. what a joke, my sister has the xperia s and the speaker on that 1 is better, but my old phone the htc wildfire which is about 2 years or more old is way louder and better, i thought technology would have advanced by then..
will there be anyway to upgrade the speaker!!?? If not i'm gonna have to try and beg a refund becuase i'm not sure phones4u will let me
what a dissapointment!

Do you have xLOUD™ activated?

Settings> sound> xLOUD (activate the checkmark)

Let me know what happens with the function active.

Yeah i've put that on and it is slightly louder at the cost of crackly horriible quailty..

I would like you to compare this unit to other Xperia U's.

I'm thinking that there may be a physical problem with the speaker.

If so you will need to send it in for evaluation.

Its brand new though, just fresh out of the box.. surely 2 in a row cant be faulty..
And i dont particularly want to send it in becuase i want to use my new phone! but its not even a happy moment, and also i dont want to be without a phone for however long you guys have it (probably weeks) and i bet it costs me to send it off to fix your problem too?

Yes! Francis is right! Some models have problem even when you buy them recently, those are fault from the factory!! You might want to have it checked by an authorized personnel!!

And it won't cost you, as its still under warranty!! They might have your handset for 4-5 days

Go to the retailer and tell them the problem, if they can replace or repair for you then its okay or ask them the address of auth sony center and handover your handset to the authorized person

Okay, its just hard because ive already took it back once, and i cant drive and i work every week day!

Oh!! Try and ask the service center people!! Sometimes they give you a spare handset till your handset is being repaired!!

Hi louiebg ! Welcome to XpU hospital(hug):smileyplain:. Even if you have xLoud on the sound level is too thin to hear in any normal surroundings:smileysad:. many buyers reported this. Isnt it better to read forums and blogs before we buy ?(I didnt do it too):smileycry:

I dont think sony will ever replace the speaker hardware ! We are hoping for software fix or betterment in August:smileyinfo:
