All the buyers who are willing to buy this phone please stay away from xperia p......dont waste ur hard earned cash on this shitty device or otherwise u will regret urself buying this device.....for a device worth Rs 25k its not able to perform the task which a Rs 700 can perform....i will tell u the reasons why u should stay away from this device.......

1.Network Isues:-This is certainly the biggest problem in this device its an network issue after sony released a new firmware update there is a signal drops problem though sony confirmed this issue at last but they will release a fix but in first week of august i.e nearly 3 -4 weeks after releasing this buggy firmware....what do they think we should do with this phone within these days keep it in showcase or just watch it and wait for the release.....sony are u fucking out of ur mind.....

2.Service:-If u want a good example of how fucked up the service of sony is then its none other than me i have been waiting for nearly 40 days and still i haven't got my device also they will give u a different color device if u have given ur device for replacement plus u will not get any updates i ur case not a single call back just u have to wait till ur device appears before u.......

3.No,Ics update:-Sony promised the Ics update in Q2 which has past a way long and still there is not update yet.....some of their facebook page moderators are saying that it will be released in first week of august others say it will be in september so they just keep customer waiting and keep guessing for ther ICS update by not giving a proper date for the update....also there is a huge probability that Jelly Bean will not be released for this device as 2011 phones will not get Jelly Bean...oh what i am talking lets just hope that we get ICS now......

4.The speaker of this phone is really bad u will hear a scratchy sound while playing music atleast this is the case with me and some others who have posted on this forum....

5.The NovaThor U8500 processor is the weakest dual core available in the market as being mentioned by GSMARENA...so don't go under the impression of dual core processor....

6.There are many SW bugs like the screen flickering problem u can notice this while setting Live Wallpapers and many more......

7.White Magic:-The shift in color when u change the brightness of the device.....and still there is no fix on that too other than keeping the birghtness to auto mode....

8.Camera of this device is decent but does not live upto the expectation u will notice yellowish color in the images while keeping the scene mode in auto tough i think so it an SW issue also the sound i bad at the time of video recording in this phone.....

After all this explanation if u still want to waste ur money in buying this fucking device then go for it and u will it regret for sure......

I have no problem at all with my device, but with the service... I haven't updated for that SW which screws up your network, so I don't have that issue. I think Sony should release something about the update to ICS, like when they did for X10. They are releasing too much phones and they just doesn't work "hard" on the older ones. I mean they do, but like a little dev team doing it I guess...

I registered myself to reply to this post, as it's unnecessarily negative:

1. Software Issue. The phone was fine on the previous update. So, nothing wrong with the phone itself, just some software not working properly. I agree to the fact that they let down on us with the support for a bit, they should've released a fix for that.

2. Personal experience. Don't spread your hatred against Sony on one of their phones, it has nothing to do with it. In my country (the Netherlands) we can go to the shop and get it replaced there, instead of going to Sony themselves. Even Sony replaced phones within 2 weeks here.

3. I'd like to receive the ICS update as soon as possible as well, and I agree to the fact that they should have released it earlier, but then again: gingerbread is working great on this phone as well, it's just a bit outdated.

4. Never had this problem, never read about it. You don't need to show "proof" that other people have experienced the same, but I'm keeping a close look on different big topics about this phone and I haven't seen it passing by yet. Then again, a phone speaker can't be considered a good quality speaker, not any smartphone has a great quality speaker.

5. Tssk, optimisation goes above hardware specs for sure. Even if this would be a very weak processor, there's nothing wrong with the speed of it. I haven't experienced any lags in the 2 months that I've been using it.

6. Screen flickering? As in changing the brightness in auto mode? I wonder which "many more" bugs you are talking about.

7. Agree that this is a big issue. But.. Changing to auto made fixes it? No, it doesn't. The color shifts appear when you go above 75% brightness, if you keep it at 74% at all times, you won't see any different colors. Auto mode goes beyond 75% when you're outside in the sun.

8. There's nothing wrong with the camera, in my opinion. And it's definately much better than "decent". I've added a few pictures as attachment for you to judge.

I agree with you on the "sound" part of the phone while recording: it ain't that good indeed, but it remains a smartphone and not a photo or digital video camera. It's small and flat. I think it's good enough to do average recording with.

Having replied this: I recommend everyone to buy this phone. It's a perfect all-round phone, not high end but I think it's close to high end though. Especially the price (I bought it for 350 euros) is very good compared to the performance of the phone.

U love ur phone too much that u are not willing to accept the fact that it is a shitty device provided with a poor support from sony......1.the reason fr that is u are willing to wait for 3-4 weeks fr the update and also recommend this to new one so when they get their devices out of the box after updating they will not be able to make a call....2.regarding the service i don't live in netherland i live in india this is what the kind of service we indians are getting from sony even i have the no of head of department of sonymobile in of a particular north zone(which is the biggest zone in my country) and the HOD is not giving me proper response then what can i expect from other executives of sony......3..here also u recommend other user to buy this phone without having a gaurentee of when they will recieve ICS update nowadays other company are working on Jelly Bean and sony is not able to provide ICS right now....4.i have witnessed the speaker problem with mine xperia p and my friend xperia p and believe u have to be deaf to not witness this issue let it be u are willing to compramise this also......5.i have not mentioned here that there is any lag while day to day use but i have just informed new users that this is the weakest dual core processor in the market.....let it be what i am going to explain it to u.....u are just a die hard fan of sony that u are willing to compramise with the call feature,the delayed arrival of Ics update,speaker,low voice in camera,a slow processor,flickering issue....just for the brand sony and just for ur satisfaction that u have invested in a right place......

Dhananjay, I understand that you are furious about the delay in getting your device back. But I guess you are one of those unlucky guys who is not getting the proper service after paying such a huge amount. There is hardly anything you can do about it other than waiting.

Dhananjay actually the price with the spec which Xperia P hav is really very worth, otherwise u wont choose to buy it. since you bought it, then you have to accept the ICS delay. But the SONY service, i m speechless also....

It has nothing to do with my "love" towards the phone. I just didn't have any bad experiences with it like you have had.

I don't care about the ICS update as much as you do, for sure. That's one point.

Oh, and your statement about new users not being able to make a call right out of the box: Sony has blocked the .162 update, it's not available for download anymore.

Sure you don't live in the Netherlands, and I have my thoughts about the Indian regime as well, but I'll keep them for myself. One thing is for sure: you can't judge a phone on its service "per user", if you get what I mean. It has nothing to do with the phone, it's your personal experience with the company that makes the phone.

I definately recommend other people buying this phone, indeed. Because it's a great phone, in my opinion. I've had no issues with it whatsoever. And I can garuantee an ICS update as it's publicly announced by Sony that it will be there for the Xperia P. Who cares when.. Eventually we'll get it.

Calling me deaf for not hearing a "speaker problem" that's not there on my phone, well I can't call it else than ridiculous.

Weakest dual core processor, well IF it's the weakest dual core processor of ALL dual core processors around, they did a damn good job on optimising it's performance with the software, 'cause it's faster than any normal smartphone.

Hey, it's okay to share your opinion about the phone, but please.. Don't make a fool out of yourself by stating things such as "Warning: Stay way from Xperia p!!!!!". Personal experience remains personal experience, you can't force others not to buy this phone just because your experience isn't that great. Perhaps your expectations were too high?

I still love the phone and recommend other people to buy it. But I agree with you on the fact that this isn't a phone that should be bought by "update whores", true that.

@ Sagar: You just need the right circumstances and a bit of knowledge on how to make a picture, but yes, it can make very nice pictures. I'm happy with the camera.

I would agree with MagestyZ.

I have this phone for 2 months now.

Infact I was one of the first to point out the network issue in my thread and also recommended everyone to just flash the earlier firmware. It was a no-brainer that the s/w was buggy, not the phone.

Sony takes 15-20 days to deliver phones, and since most of the users rushed to them for a handset replacement because of a s/w bug, they might have ran out of the handsets. My friend had fired the Chennai's Sony HOD over the phone, and he got the phone in 9 days. [Though it was a X-Sola].

I do not care about the ICS update, JB on my phone has got absoutely no problem. JB aint stopping my phone from doing something which magically ICS would allow me. Most of the changes are just visual gimmicks. If you still need ICS so badly, there are tons of custom firmwares available on the net.

I never had the speaker issue, so no comments. If someone has it...too bad !! lol

The processor on the phone is not meant to replace a PC !! As far as the phone is concerned, even with 78 apps installed on mine, it runs as smoothly as a new handset.

The camera is a classic Sony, nothing wrong with it. You just need to know how to work it around. Most of my camera shots were better than my friends Sansung Note.

About the Whitemagic's shift in color. Any wise person would not keep his phone on such a high brightness for obvious reasons. The shift in color is very well technically explained by Sony and it has a reason behind it. Read it up !! If it bothers someone, then its a personal call.

No screen flickering problems with my handset, neither is my Live wallpapers freezing up as mentioned by few others.

My only concern with this phone would be, they could have given it a better battery capacity. Still for the price I paid, for a 24k phone, its very very good in terms of build quality [Try picking up a SGS 2 or SG-Note...Weights like shit !!], screen quality, camera and media performance. Every phone has some minor issues...we cant ask for everything !! Having being a Sony, Nokia, Motorola and Samsung user, my heart still goes out for a Sony handset !!

k....i believe that my expectation must be too high with this phone and so it does not live up to it......but finally after 41 days i have got a new replaced device but still i have the speaker problem....i got two replacement device and the original one that i have bought and in all of them i have noticed this problem i think its an problem with all the devices i just want u to download the song from the below link and test it on ur xperia p...i have tested on stock music player on stock 6.0.B.1.564 firmware with xloud on and EQ off and media volume is full Link:-https://www.box.com/s/1e4243e75f4df537a2c5 please reply asap.......i want others also to test this song on their respective devices.....i am hearing a cracking sound while playing this song but on other device like Nokia 5233 i plays without any problem......

Yes cracking sound is there only when "XLoud" is on, otherwise no issues with the speaker, I think "XLoud" tech is the culprit for this malfunction :smileysad:. I noticed this long back, not just now with the song

than u bro i have also noticed that its an software glitch these sony service center idiots were not aware with this problem and told me its an issue with the speake and replaced 3 devices within 41 days but the problem still was there until ur response....... now i am waiting for the fix
