Hello sony team!

Okay, so, in last month(when I upgraded to ICS) I`ve monithored few bugs from mine Xperia S.

And they ar:

Camera button. When using it for fast capture(when creen is locked) sometimes it works with first press of button, but mostly I need to press it more than one time(usually 3 times) to activate.
When calling to someone or recieving ac call from someone the screen goes dark, ofcourse becouse of proximity sensor, but the problem is, that when I get phone away from my ear, screnn is still dark, it doesn`t tur on, like it was on 2.3.7.
Mobile internet on low battery(under 15%) doesn`t turn on, same problem is with wifi.
Bluetooth bug with handsfree headsets - music is twitching for about 1 second in a 2-3 minutes or when unlocking screen or doing some hard actions for CPU, and I`m using SonyEricsson`s MW600.
Problem with MAC and Linux. I can`t connect my phone to my MAC and also I c`nt connect it to Linux. The problem is that USB ports are showing that phone is connected, but I can`t acces to phone memory. That`s really annoying, becouse I need to use windows crap. And, I was able to connect my phone to Mac and Linux on 2.3.7
And the last problem - battery! It drains like twice faster than on 2.3.7. Now I must charge it every day, bu on 2.3.7 I charged it every 3rd day.

My phones firmware version - 6.1.A.0.452

Probably there are some more bugs, but I`ve forgotten them :smileyhappy:. If I`ll remember some, I`ll update this thread.

Hope, that these few bugs will be fixed.

1.you must push+hold the camera button for a few seconds to activate it.

2.go to dialer and type in '*#*#7378423#*#* >service tests>proximity sensor and put your finger near and away the proximity. see if it can detect.

3.maybe it is somekind of way to preserve the battery juice when it is under 15% so that your phone wont die.

4&5.im not sure how to help as im not facing any problems at these.

6.maybe it could be due to regularity of constant usage of your bluetooth device connection?and please,do not use task killer,antivirus,etc...

my recommendation : perform a clean (factory reset+update) install of software update.

1. I`m not so dumb, and that is bug, even if I`m holding that button for 20 sec. nothing happens. And again, on 2.3.7 it worked perfectly

2. Sensor works fine, the problem is that it somehow doesn`t work in my described situation

3. There wasn`t such thing on 2.3.7

4 & 5. Probably U d`ont have bluetooth headset and MAC/Linux

6. Phone is using only 2 apps, which are custom - they are Tweetdeck and Foursquare, same apps I were using on 2.3.7, becouse these apps I need only.

Resetted to factory settings - same problems

Maked "Phone repair" thru PCC - same problems

New bugs I`ve found:

New problems with mobile internet and wi-fi, now on some large app downloads(10+ mb) mobile and ether wi-fi doesn`t work. Phone restart fixes the problem.
Somethimes when answering call, I can`t hear the people in the "other side", but he can hear me.
Small visual bug - when turning on screen(when it`s locked) sometimes it shows unlocked screen, but screen still is locked. Turning off and on screen fixes the problem.
Today something weird happened. Phone was on vibrate, but, my mom called me and it was ringing with sound, but vibrate icon was on the top menu(where small clock is)
Smart tags can`t be read when first time turning on NFC. When turing on and off NFC(like - I wake up in the morning, unlock screen, turn on NFC, try to read smart tag - nothing happens even 2 minutes flaunting around any tag, then I turn off NFC and then on, and then it reads with wirst flaunt) they can be read.

I`ll keep reporting if I`ll find some new bugs :smileyhappy:. And still waiting for some bugfix firmware

Oh my god. The bugs on your phone are exactly the same ones occuring in my phone too.

You are not the only one having bugs after ICS update, pal.

I've been using this phone for a month after updating to ICS and here are the very problems I found:

1. Photo capture results much more noise.

2. Often not able to access the fast capture from the unlocked screen. Need twice or three times presses before going to camera mode. Worse thing happens : after accessing the camera mode through the fast capture button, all the widgets and icons on the home screens are dragged up to the top of the screen--need to reset the phone in order to normalize.

3. Flickering in the gallery app often occurs, especially when marking photos to be sent via bluetooth.

4. Music player on locked screen show no track available, so I have to go to the music player app on the home screen to start playing the music tracks.

5. While playing music, sometimes it freezes. No other apps are running behind.

What the heck is the ICS update doing to my phone? It's even worse now.

Any one experience the same?

I hope there's a fix patch for this issue. It's so disappointing that I can't use the fast capture button as it's supposed to and as advertised. It's so funny that now there's a camera shortcut on the screen slider... What a joke....

Just tested u`r bugs. with No. 1 - for my xperia S it`s okay. I`ve same issue with No. 2, but I don`t have problem with widgets(mby u`r using some custom widgets, becouse I`m using only original ones). Just tested No. 3 - same problem, I haven`t noticed it earlier, but now I`ve that problem too. With No. 4, mby u can specify, what u`ve done to get that state? With No. 5, I`ve only small(0.5 - 1 sec) flickering when using bluetooth headeset, otherwise it`s fine.

Well, this is my email sent to Sony Center, hasn't been replied though. But I hope this explains more clearly.

... some function like music player on the locked screen doesn't work really well. It used to be so smooth while it was still on Gingerbread that I could play, pause, skip or rewind music tracks through the earphone button. It is so irritating now that it frequently stops working and is unable to be controlled by the earphone button. This occurs almost all the time when I'm listening to the music and at some point I press the earphone button to change the track but it doesn't respond and the music player just stops. It won't start playing the music anymore by means of the earphone button until I unlock the phone, go into the music player app, and touch the play icon to start playing the track again. Moreover, the music player on the locked screen mode always shows No Tracks Available. Instead of playing the music from there, I have to go to the music player app to do so.

I once also experienced the problem with receiving a call that I was unable to hear the person's voice who was calling me; but he said that he could clearly hear my voice. He then tried calling me several times but that same thing still happened. Actually it's not that no sound at all, because I could still hear but it felt like he was speaking with me from a mile away.

That happened once and was a while ago, but now knowing that there's another person who experienced the same makes me sure that it will happen again and again.

I hope some Sony representative would respond us here... 😞

Ah, one more buggy thing!

My proximity sensor works well as I ran a test from the Service Menu. However, it begins to show its defectiveness when I make a call. If it's a short call, let's say of 15 or 20 seconds, the proximity switch works at its service but not for a long one. Everytime I take a while making a call, the proximity seems like to forget its duty to stay steady for me: the screen won't wakeup as I end the call or lift the phone away from my face. When it happens, I have to wake the screen from the power button. Thanks a lot for the ICS update that it even brings bugs more than what we expected: and it's abundant bugs.

No. 7 and 8 posts - I`ve same problems.

Speaking about music player - I tried hard as possable, but I couldn`t repeat your mentioned bug. And speaking about 7th post - for me, it`s getting even worse. Today same thing has happened for 7 times. I was "speaking" to important business clients, but I wasn`t able to speak becouse I didn`t hear them, so I needed to hang up and phone them back...

Knowing that the issue while taking a call often happens to yours is just so hair-raising for me. I'm afraid that it will also happen to mine more frequently. But fortunately I experience that issue only once several days after updating to ICS. When it was happening, the case resolved when the caller decided to call me from another phone. That's weird.

But what irritates me the most is just the unability of making a fast capture instantly. Now I DEFINITELY HAVE TO PRESS 3 TIMES to get into the fast capture camera mode. For Christ's sake that is annoying.

Fast capture is one thing that makes the Xperia S stand out, right???

Sony should have said: Do not upgrade your Xperia S if you don't want to lose the fast capture function

And the issue occuring to my music player must also be considered seriously by Sony. I'm sure there are others who experience the same.

This thread has been existing for almost 2 weeks and still no Sony moderator around... ?????

From today my phone is comletely brick! No matter what I do, I can`t connect to internet. I did repair thru PCC - nothing. Rapair + reset to factory settings - nothing. I`m so angry now... please SONY release some bugfix, I`m begging now... Can`t use phone without internet, I need to check my mail(important contracts e.t.c.) each 30 minutes if I`m not in office!

I feel really pitty for the issues you are facing, am also one of the Xperia S user and we have lot of issues with ICS update (Strongly).

We also have a couple of issues with "Camera", i hope you guys would have already seen it, if not below is the link for the blog.

Lots of ppl around the globe had added their comments and many are doing RnD also. Sony is giving us a chance to become a "Test/Quality Analyst" (lol).

If you guys didn't receive any update from Sony, make much noise by posting your issues in "Facebook - Sony page" , they have got a official page in Facebook and i see they respond to ppl's query faster when compared here.

Everybody hope for a fix from "Sony" soon.. Fingers crossed..

The ICS update is a complete and total failure! My phone was actually 100 times better on Gingerbread! To many bugs to list to be honest!

Yeah I've ever come and participated in the thread link you gave, you can tell there are some posts written by me in the 'focusing problem of Xperia S's camera'. I can say that the camera focusing problem has been existing since it was still on Gingerbread. Now it's even worse that we found out there are lots of failures with ICS.

What I've been experiencing this far really doesn't depict the effort of a company that has been losing lots of market share to regain the world's trust in using their products.

Now I'm waiting for a miracle from Sony guys confirming that there's a fix for it; or else, time to say good bye to this phone and Sony.

Well, with ICS and other updates, mostly I don`t care about some minor bugs, but if phone can`t support mine basic needs, like calling, texting and mobile internet, then there is a problem.

I bought this phone becouse it supported all three mentioned things, but now, it supports only one - texting. For calls I can`t hear sometimes the person in the other side, and mobile internet isn`t working for me anymore...

I hope to Sony will release bugfix soon, otherwise I`ll buy new iphone(I`m done with android, too much bugs and companys are too much interfering into android life) at the end of year...

BTW, dont give up on Android yet, cause Sony cares more to present another dozen of 2012 flagship phones instead of deal with problems in existing ones. I really hate myself that I didnt go for Samsung Galaxy 3. Of course these fellas are hopeless then it comes to design and beauty of particullar handset, but then it comes to hardware and soft they are close to perfect.

No. 1 and 2 are the same problems I have.

It looks like every phone or user have different bugs. I downgraded to GB and bugs are gone except battery life is a bit worse.

I hope your warranty is not yet over, How did you downgrade it to GB? because in many posts i saw when we downgrade by ourself it will void our warranty..

If you have downgraded w/o voiding ur warranty, please let me know as well.. Because, even i want to go back to GB..
