I do suggest a software update on the device, however use the Update Service instead of PC Companion as this software should allow you to perform the task without any issues.

http://www.sonymobile.com/global-en/tools/update-service/

The inbuilt browser of elm is unable to access any website through secure connection. The error is "Communication failed. Secure Connection Failed". But everything works fine with opera mini. I have even tried using the phone as a modem with my laptop and it works fine with it. That means there's no problem with the service provider. What could be the problem??

And when I tried to repair the phone using Sony PC companion it asks to close "wininit.exe" which is a critical windows service. Ending it shows a blue screen and my computer shuts down immediately. What should I do?

thanks.
