Thanks for your feedback. I never thought in your way about the suggestions to upgrade manually.

the reason behind that is....

- Many of us are too much self dependent and love customization.

- Sony/Other vendors are providing their own software where as you may like to have your own solution by doing necessary customization.

Just an example that... No Vendor yet released any ICS verion for their phone which is having less than 1Ghz processor. But there you will find so many custom ICS which can be used in Phones like Motorola Milestone, Samsung Galaxy Y or like that.

i dont have any answer to your question but I have my point of view.
why sony software is tool slow?

Hi,

I have couple of doubts regarding any software provided by sony ( earliers sony ericssion) for mobile, camera, cd player etc...

since this fourm is for mobile I will talk about my xperia neo.

I am buyer of various sony products since 2005. Purchased like cd player, w810i, xperia neo and various headphones.

software comes with these products especially PC companion and media go looks good but not friendly for use.

PC companion doesn't detect phones for which it is designed for. There could be various reasons for not detecting phone but there should be some solution.

For any issue most of the time final conclusion is re-install.

If a software required frequent "Re-install" then it is not at all good software.

Also when installing pc companion MBs of data gets installed. But when it come for use it simply doesn't work for a smart phone for updates and all.

I am seriously looking for an alternative or some mechanism that can avoid PC companion for install and upgrade.

Intall/upgarde software for android is as good as any OS install then some alternatives should be there if sonys own software doesn't work.

Please not that I am happy with all devices and I am complining about sotware the device is depending on especially my xperia neo for updates.

Few cases, I have seen to remove microsd card before update software. This means pc companion have some problem if sd card is present in phone. this could be because of size of memory card.

I this case for 2012 line up mobiles, there are internal memory itself is 16gb or more. Then I am sure people will face problem and it will not get rectified as they cannot remove internal storage while updating or installing software.

Also there are 2 softwares update service and pc companion. Why 2 softwares??? why cannot sony make a simple single software which is robust enough for any smartphone dependency external software??

I hope people will add more comments so that sony can come up with a better solution.

Thanks & Regards,

sridhar.

I have read your full details. I am also a user of various Sony product and do do expect to have better service from Sony in the future days.

Regarding the PCC issue, I havent found any issue like that with my phone. I have Xperia Pro and the PCC is installed in 3 of my PCs (1 Dell, 1 Asus & 1 Desktop). None of them have ever showed anything like they cant detect the phone. Moreover, i became happy to see that the PCC detects my phone when its Switched Off.

I am not sure where is the probelm for your issues. But be sure your Firewall or Antivirus is not blocking the communication between your PC with PCC and your Phone.

There is another way to install the update manually, if you dont choose to do it automatically. you will be needed...

Firmware file (Official or Stock OS) for your phone.

Flashtool

You will find them in XDA forum and i have done successful manual update with my phone with the official OS which was way fater than the automatic process.

best of luck. hope you will find the way to resolve the issues.

Not sure you might be lucky enough with sony softwares.

I have 2 laptops and 1 pc where 2 of them doesn't have any anti virous software and firewall turned off completely.

But PCC simply doesn't work. In history it used to work with my 3rd laptop where it has anti virus enable but sill working.

I think it will work if I remove my 16gb microsd car from my neo but that is not the soltuion which I am expecting from great PCC to detect my phone.

You ae suggesting alternate solutions which can damage warrenty. But what I am expecting a clean solution from sony itself.

why should I buy a device where the brand itself suggest to use a software which damages warrenty and doesn't provide any free service without warrenty?

The great chinke and egg problem ....right?
