I just realised that I received the EP800 charger with my Xperia S, whereas Xperia P owners and some Xperia S owners received the EP850/851 quick charger. One of the reasons I purchased this handset was because of the quick charging capability. Now that it is clear that there are multiple chargers, why should certain Xperia S users have to shell out £24.99 to avail of quick charging when other Xperia S users and Xperia P users do not? To be honest, why even bother distributing a much slower charger in the first place?

Different markets have different kit content. Don't ask me why because I don't know. But if you're interested in getting an EP850/EP851 I suggest that you contact your local support team or visit any local retailer.

It's just a bit frustrating buying the more expensive handset and being given a charger that doesn't charge at the phone's full capability. It's a pity I'm gonna have to fork out extra now, I really think these should be bundled as standard.

I've noticed the Blackberry Premium International Charger provides an output of 5V DC @ 2000mA

The E800 provides 5V DC @ 850mA and the EP850/851 provides 5V DC @ 1500mA

Would I be right in saying that because current is pulled from the charger, wheras voltage is pushed towards the phone, the Blackberry charger would be compatible, i.e. the battery controller only pulls what it can handle? The reason I ask is the Blackberry charger is available for £14.82 on Amazon with free delivery. I would also feel safer purchasing a Blackberry charger than a generic one that may not meet the specification it claims.

Id rather have the EP800 charger anyway, i charge my Xperia S up overnight and if i had the 1500mAh rapid charger the phone would be just sat on full charge even longer than it does now. Even with the EP800 mine goes from less than 10% to 50% in no time anyway.

I try to disconnect mine as soon as it's above 90% as recommended by one of the articles on here somewhere.
