Weird Charging Problem .... Help Me Guys ...

Hii Guys ,

I am a x10i user for 2 years approximately ...I love this phone ... & i know most possible battery issues ....
But recently i came to witness a weird charging problem, I'll explain exactly it is...

What exactly my problem is voltage getting in battery to charge is reducing simultaneously ...

i observed this using 'Current widget' from market ... & logged graph seems gradually current dropping ...

actually my brother too own x10, his current reading is above 900mA till charging becomes 100%...

but my problem is while charging , it's voltage keeps decreasing from 900mA to 0mA o... & doesn't charge fully

& it'll stop charging while reaching 0mA... ... in 30mins give or take ...

I've tried Different battery , data cable ,charger , different ROM etc. Nothing could fix it...

it's 100% hardware issue , & looking for possible fixing solutions suggestion ....

Anyone from Sony Ericsson Technical department to help me outta this ?

Hi, it could be a software issue too. See if Software Repair helps ....

Here's the download link for Upate Service, http://www.sonymobile.com/gb/tools/update-service/. Download and install to PC/Laptop, launch it and follow on-screen instructions. Be aware that this process will erase phone data completely.

Keep us updated.

You mentioned that you tried different battery, genuine battery? How about testing with your brother's battery?

Quite confirmed that it is a hardware issue .... Only option is to send it for repair (if you still intend to keep the phone) provided it is cost effective to do it.

i've went to Authorized SE service centre here, they did some examining & said it's ok in hardware...

they couldn't recognize the problem ...

I want to get exact opinion of possible hardware part that's to be examined again from hardware experts here... or SE Support here...

since you'd flashed different ROMs that could be the issue

Tried everything , still problem persist ....

See log graph of current widget ... from 900mA to 0mA while charge reaches 75% and stpos further charging ... but charging light (orange) keeps on...

It seems some resistance increasing on circuit board & reducing current flow ....

Hope you guys understand my problem well...

I think it is hardware related, even if Sony said otherwise, you should take it again, perhaps they will have someone else working when you go again

Back .... after a good recharge (myself), a thought struck me (pretty much thinking about your problem) .... Have you tried a battery calibration? on batteries that you have tested?

Thanks for that tip, even i was behind battery calibration yesterday ...

when i charged , it's not going more than 87%

i rebooted to recovery & wiped battery stats, removed battery ,& inserted it while charger connected ...

i left 1 night long in that charging mode... its not charging , & instead discharged almost 10%...now 77%... totally mad today

please help me with good tips to calibrate successfully ...

Regarding battery calibration, seems that you are not doing it correctly (sorry for being frank).

You need to charge your battery to 100% (not sure how you are going to do that), wipe battery stats, let it discharge normally, then recharge battery to full again. An easier way is to search for battery calibration app in Google Play, all you need to do is follow the instructions, that's about it!

By the way, more suggestions for you ....

It is in fact great to have spare batteries and phone (your brother's X10) for testing/elimination purposes. Here is what you can do, charge 'battery' to 100% using your brother's X10, remove 'battery' and insert it to your phone. What is the battery level indicated on your phone? Slightly lower than 100% is fine. Your decision to perform the following ...

- Do a battery calibration using this 'battery' as-is condition.

- Charge this 'battery' to 100% (if possible) with your phone and do a battery calibration.

You may want to do the above tasks with stock firmware too to confirm that there is nothing wrong with other roms.

Hope the above will lead you to the right direction (provided that it is a batterystats.bin file issue).

Lastly, just for info .... this is not my normal approach for rooted phone topic, being a moderator, I do not touch these threads (my principle). I guess this exceptional as I have started here (not my style to keep threads hanging) and also for the sake of Xperia X10.

Hi guys ...

Did battery calibration exactly as moderator said ...

Charged to 100% in bro's x10, & i calibrated in my phone ...

& done full discharge .... it took more than a day..

i charged again ... same problem remaining ... doesn't go above 83%...

& don't take current more than 400mA... i'm uploading that graph .. took 3hrs + for reaching 0 to 83%..

If you have tested with different batteries & USB cable, most likely it is the X10 hardware .... suggest you get a second opinion.
