Nopes, if you format your sd card and then install ICS it won't lag at all ( i hope)

Working quite fine for me ( Arc S )

There are 2 steps to downgrade

1) Official - handing in the smartphone at a service centre you can request to have it re-installed with Android 2.3

2) Unofficial- Flash Gingerbread using Flashtool, your warranty would get void ( see link above by Alanh)

I will stick with gingerbread as I keep on hearing on blogs that Sony feel ICM is to processor intensive.... although the Arc S has a fast 1.4 ghz cpu .... its not dual core so ICM could slow the phone down more than gingerbread.

ICM sounds a bit like the "Vista of Android"..... Google need to make a "windows 7 of Android"

I just need all my apps to go to SD card so I can have more ram so I'll have to use this

-

http://androidadvices.com/install-apps-sd-card-android-rooting/

Well had enough of Gingerbread .... ok the Arc S is running ok now (as I had to uninstall and re-install all my apps) .... but suddenly it keeps on running out of ram as some running apps (which I don't want running like Google maps etc) .... keep running in the background....and bloatware is still there in the ram = less user ram.

I have a new 32gb Micro-SD card and I would have loved used 4gb of that as "virtual ram" but I need root access to make mods to the Gingerbread and would need to touch the boat-loader..... if I do that my 2 yr warranty is blown!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!..

I just watched this - http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=wbliwAN7rXQ

And in there it says ICS allows root type access (yipeeee).... if the sony version of that does as well then great.....

-----------

On Sony's Andriod 4.0 page they say all phones made in 2011 --> now can use ICS...... most of these had 800-1ghz single core cpus..... The Arc S was the most powerful 1.4 ghz single core cpu phone they made.... so should be able to handle ICM better than others.

But Sony then keep on saying ICS will "effect performance" hinting the ARC S would be dog slow.....

Well with the little ram I have left in gingerbread after all the bloatware runs uncontrolled the Arc S is already slower than it could be....

In Windows 7 I can fine tune it so I don't have bloatware etc running and the PC flys.... same in Linux (with root access).....

But Sony haven't given this feature to its customers so its very annoying.

I got the ARC S to be used as a tool.... not as some thing pretty to look at....

Apart from the Xperior S dual core cpu .... its around the same spec as the Arc S ... So Arc S should easily be able to use ICS....

Sony's 1st line staff don't have as much techie experience or indepth knowledge of ICS.... they need more training.........

If ICS don't work I will go back to Gingerbread (but I hope it does work).

Message was edited by: Skippy-75 - I have installed ICS version 4.1.A.0.562
