Hi all, I just bought my new Xperia Arc S a few days ago and have been disappointed at how it's using it's battery, especially compared to my previous phone (HTC Wildfire). So I'd just lke to check with you clever people to see if my handset is behaving as it should or if I may have a problem.

Some details: Model LT181i

                     Android 2.3.4

                     Build 4.0.2.A.0.62

Now if I charge the battery fully to 100% and leave the phone overnight with wi-fi only on. By next morning the battery level is down to 70% and the battery useage is Android System 36%, wifi 25%, cell standby 15%, phone idle 15%.

Compared with my 2 year old Wildfire (Android 2.2.1), the Sony seems to be using 'Android system' to take so much more of the battery energy. For example the Wildfire, set up the same way and left overnight for the same time, will only use about 6% battery and of that the Android system is responsible for only about 3% of that useage.

So is it normal and expected for the Xperia Arc S to use 30% battery overnight while not in use, and the 'Android System' to be responsible for nearly 40% of battery use?

Any help or advice is greatly appreciated as I really like the phone and would love to keep it, but at the moment one charge of the HTC will outlast 3 charges to the Xperia. I need to find a way to improve that.

Thanks for reading and offering any help,

Gordon.

Hi,

Please upload a battery graph screen shot of your device here. Make a full chargd use it till it reaches to 15% and then take a screen shots and upload here. It would be easier to help.

Thanks Auni. The Phone is charging as I type, and I'll post the graphs as soon as I have them. I think the phone isn't 'sleeping' as it should, but it has the same apps and settings as the Wildfire which doesn't use anything like the same amount of 'Android System' .

Will post graphs later. Thanks again.

I'll see if I can post mine too... I have the exact same problem as turfer describes Android system seems to be taking up alot of resources. There was this explanation offered by another user on this forum but doesn't explain the low battery life of the phone.

The Xperia, if I'm reading things rightly has an 'awake time' of 7hr but has only been 'up' for less than 30hr.
