PC Companion Sync is always abending with unknown error

I've a new Vivaz Pro and would like to synchronize with PC Companion my MS Outlook 2007 with the phone. It has never completly worked. At least i got my contacts on the phone, but Calender etc. abends always with an unknown error. There is no descriptive error message. The other PC Companions applications seems to work. Only the phone backup abends sometimes.

I'm also on Windows 7 64 Bit

Seems to be a common error. I have the same problem, but couldn't find a solution yet. It starts to sync the calendar, but suddenly stops and an error message appears. No problem to sync contacts. Any solution?????

Hi Singai and Wallman,

in the meantime, the problem disappears. After one or two PC Companion updates i can sync anything from MS Outlook with PC Companion. I don't know why, but its solved. So, may be getting the last update will also help you.

This error can be caused by many things, but the most common is that you either have a corrupt calendar post in the phone or MS Outlook. Or that the standard folder for calendar in MS Outlook contains some error.

I suggest that you first create a new calendar folder in MS Outlook and then try to sync with that one via PC Companion, selecting it via properties for calendar in PC Companion.

Hi,

Had the same problem. The following worked for me:

1. Locate where Sony PC Companion is installed. E.g. C:\Program Files (x86)\Sony\Sony PC Companion

2. Run PCCompanionInfo.exe. The program opens up a log window. Just leave it running

3. Connect phone and run PC Companion

4. Start Sync

5. Pay attention to where the sync crashes in the PCCompanionInfo log window. In may case it was choking on a particular entry back in 2009 in my calendar. Strange as I told it only to go back 1 week, I think the program attempts to read all the entries.

6. Delete the item from Outlook

7. Repeat step 3-6
