Run Windows Update and start Windows Media Player to make sure this is fully up to date.

Updated WMP also updates the MTP drivers. This should hopefully fix the problem.

If it doesn't you should look at the firewall and any anti virus software and see if these are blocking PC Companion.

What do you think about this forum? Let us know by doing this short survey.

Hi there,

when trying to connect my Xperia S phone, to my computer, PC Companion just says an error occured and advises me to restart my phone and to try it again afterwards. That doesn't work out for me.

I already tried the following steps (as read on various sites on the web)

-Deleting Data from MTP

-Activating USB Debugging

-Uninstalling PC Companion and Install it again.

None of these steps worked out for me.

Just two days ago, i was able to connect the handset to the computer, now its just not working anymore!

Anyone out there who can help me?

Would be great!

Have quite often the same problem when connecting Xperia s to pc via usb. The solution for me is to reboot my pc and restart my mobile. It is frustrating but eventually it works as it happen this afternoon. I also go to services (administration tools) in control panel and restart the sony service just in case that help.

I have the same problem with my iPad to get iTunes to detect it and the same solution works.
