I downloaded the new software update around 1 this afternoon. Its android 2.3.4 it fixes bugs. adds new ways to takes pictures and lets u record video in 720p and more. For the full list of features go to verizonwireless.com/xperaplaysupport

about time Verizon released the update, now the question is, would they release the 4.0.3 update as well? or will it be 3 or 4 months after it's released to the rest of Xperia Plays?

Is it me, or did the update move Madden 11 out of being a system app? I know for a fact that I never installed it myself, though I never checked to see if it was uninstallable originally.

so i did the download and my screen has been stuck on the silver Android logo for over an hour. I downloaded the update, it said it was applying updates and now it appears to be just stuck. any info on what to do?

restart the whole update process or repair it with SUS

do you have the R800x or the R800i or R800a?

R800x is the CDMA version

in that case you need to contact your networks, that's the problem with CDMA phones that you can't just flash the GSM update.

Thanks! Hey would you recommend rooting my phone or would there be problems with CDMA? If no problems with root could I update it then?

root if you really need to, but do NOT unlock the bootloader, you can use SuperOneClick to root your phone or gingerbreak.

How ever the update turns your Smartphone into a BUMDPHONE. Once the update is installed, google sync does not work, google talk does not work, and the wifi and 3G icons stay white/gray. I hope SOMEONE fesses up to the issue soon and fixes it, I did not buy a dumb phone!

Yea it was wierd my wfi/ 3g icons still.turned green after the update and a whole day after then it just stopped turning green and stays white all the time now. But everything else is all good

Well the time has come. Sorry everyone, I have talked to verizon with no hope in site of a fix, I am changing devices, getting rid of my Play and switching to a Droid x2. Lets see if my luck is any better!?
