I'm not really sure what eclipse is, but it's some kind of development tool for apps, right?

I would recommend that you check what drivers that the software requires (and if Xperia S is compatible) and then get back to me here, so we can solve your issue!

That is just a driver file and should be able to be installed without any problem. However can i ask why you need to connect the handset to Eclipse? it may be a silly question but I have tinkered with Eclipse and cannot see a reason to directly connect the phone to it.

What are your thoughts about this forum? Let us know by doing this short survey.

Hello,

I managed to connect my Xperia S to eclipse (on Windows) using the following parameter on the phone:

- In the tethering parameters when the USB cable is connected to the PC, checks the "Via USB"

(Sorry this screen is from a french version)

- Windows will allow you to install a new driver for the LT26i select the driver from google (in my case the "Android ADB Interface")

And now I can switch from Sony PC Companion and eclipse using this parameter on the phone.

I discovered this when I tried to use "Tethering" using PdaNet (native Wi-Fi Tethering on my Xperia S does not work)

These are the steps I think that I have done :

- Download PdaNet for windows at http://junefabrics.com/android/download.php

- Connect Xperia S to PC using USB, Sony PC companion will recognise it.

- Start the downloaded setup from PdaNet (it will install an USB driver for Android Device)

- When the setup ask you to connect the android device, check the "Via USB" on the phone

- You might see a new device detected (LT26i) and if every works, it will install the driver from google.

If it doesn't work, you may have to uninstall Sony PC companion before starting the PdaNet setup.

Uninstalling Sony PC companion will not uninstall the Xperia S driver but may allow you to install an other driver when "Via USB" is checked.

You can reinstall Sony PC companion after this.

After these steps, to use eclipse :

- Connect the XperiaS with USB, Windows will use the Xperia S driver, eclipse will not find the device

- Check the "via USB" on the phone, Windows will use the Android ADB interface driver, you may need to restart the ADB server (see in the Android SDK for more details)

I hope it will work for you too. It was not what I was looking for, but, this time, the side effect is good.

May be you can try this :

in the device manager, right click on "Xperia S" and choose "Update driver"

Then do not let Windows find a driver and choose a driver on your PC (may be something like "C:\Program Files (x86)\PdaNet for Android\usbwin")

By the way, I'm using Windows 7 x64 and Android 4.0.4 on my Xperia S.
