do you have 4.0.3 or 4.0.4?

if you use another dialer it'll be a lot smother and faster also try this

open the dialer -> menu -> clear call logs.

i have 4.0.4..i have tried it many times and it is not helpful but a simple point is a phone's basic purpose is to call..if there is lags here..then it is not justified.this is a very huge bug by Sony and it should be fixed.

I agree but Sony's dialer it's too heavy, it tries to do so many things at once, that's why it lags

Can you please detail this issue for me?

How much does it lag? Only when you open the dialer or always (e.g. when entering phone numbers too)?

Did this happen on the SW version you had prior to 4.0.4?

What do you think about this forum? Let us know by doing this short survey.

It happens to everyone and very very often (the only case when it doesn't happen is when you open the dialer, wait for its opening, close it and open again so it stays on memory, but when it's closed it takes a lot for opening...), it take about 3-4 seconds to open and its quite bad!

Start dialer from menu ICS 4.1.B.0.431:

Now it takes sometimes immediately and sometimes 1-2 seconds.

Previous ICS 3-4-5 seconds to start up.

Same problem here, exactly the same as everyone.

Solution: Download "Dialer one" from the market and change the theme to black and you'll barely notice any difference + some nice features.

Same problem... Now up to 5 seconds to open the dialer, before ICS it was almost instantaneous !

Why not, but I don't want to overload my phone with apps that are only here, actually, to supplement a failing ICS system...

SMSawake for the notification LED, Dialer one for a fluent dialer...

For me, the Ray remains a phone, and the minimum I expect from a phone is, at least, to be useful handling sms and calls... but i'm maybe too demanding !

(sony development teams, any comments about that ?)

To have a part of the SD card act as RAM ?

(sorry, I'm a beginner in this world, and that's why I'm disappointed you have to be an expert, download a lot of apps, do things like partitioning your SD card ONLY to have a working and useful phone, that can open a dialer quicky and notify you when you receive a message !

That was the case for me before ICS, and what I expected to continue and improve with an update ! (but the interests and benefits of updates is another topic...)

I totally agree with arnaud_d.

We should not have to resort to tweaks and workarounds for such basic functionality.

I really liked the UI of ICS but with all the troubles, I've sent my phone into the Service Center to get flashed back to Gingerbread. Although I'm totally confident I could have done it myself, I did not want to void my warranty which is still good until November of this year.

at least can u give the app for what is used in the xperia nxt series phones which can run on ics version of RAY..Xperia UI always has some or the either problems..i really miss my HTC..HTC sense was far better than SONY UI..please dont dare to suggest me for 3rd party dialers..coz i have bought a phone..not an iPOD..a phone's basic work is to make calls.
