After being supposedly "dead" for a week, I just tried to charge it. The charging LED is lit RED. I dare not try to turn it on. Last week the charging LED was lit and when I pressed the POWER button, I just got a vibration and then the LED went dead and my Xperia Active remained dead.

So this time I will let it charge and see if the LED will turn GREEN. After that I will try your suggestion.

I haven't tried to connect it to my computer. I know it is OFF as the last time I tried anything with it, I reseated the battery.

Same issue here. I updated my phone to ICS f/w 4.1.b.0.587 about a month ago and was happy with the update ( 4.1.b.0.431 was a disaster ). The phone was working well with no signs of any imminent faults. But something was definitely wrong when I tried updating my phone to ICS (4.1.b.0.587). The update failed several times by hanging in the middle of the update process and then showing the update failed message. I had to try about 20 times before the phone was actually up and running. I tried using the Sony PC companion the first few times when I tried updating but when it was not able to do my job I switched to Sony Update Service to update my phone to ICS. Again the process was failing in sequence at different progress levels(random) during the update process. But it got updated to ICS in the end (thank God).

Now coming back to the issue, yesterday night I put an alarm on my phone and enabled the flight mode (offline mode) and went to sleep like usual. But in the morning I woke up to the alarm but to my surprise the screen was off while the alarm was ringing. I tried switching the screen on by pressing the lock/unlock/power button but the screen refused to turn on. To switch off the alarm and to get the phone to restart I was forced to remove the battery. Then the real issue began, the phone stopped turning on for some reason. I long pressed the power button the usual way I used to turn on my phone and got a short vibration feedback. Then nothing. The screen didn't turn on, the softkey backlight didn't light up. Nothing happened beyond that. I tried taking out the battery and waiting for some time and even took out my sim and memory card before putting back the battery and tried restarting. I had no luck in getting the device to turn on. I tried plugging it to a wall charger and the charging indicator lit up orange. I waited like 10 mins and tried to turn the device back on but it failed. I treid plugging it to my pc and got into the flashing mode (by pressing the volume down key while connecting it to my pc) and performed an update to the same software via SUS without any issues. Still the problem persisted. I tried updating again and after the update the phone still is in the dead state. Its not connecting to PC in the mass storage mode or in the MTP mode. It can't even get recognized by the Sony PC companion (PC companion shows connection error to my phone and asks me to reconnect it after restarting). I tried removing the battery once again and put it back on and tried swtiching on the usual way until got the power on vibration. I waited some time but the screen remained turned off and so did the soft key backlight. After 5 mins I tried calling to my phone and see if its on (although the screen appears off) but I got the network message telling that the PHONE WAS SWITCHED OFF.

I didn't root or unlock my phone in the past. I am under warranty. Does anyone know any solution to turn on my phone ? If its a hardware issue (which I think is the case) will I get a replacement (its about 3 months old now) ? I sure hope Sony fails to repair it and instead make my case DOA since I got my first active replaced with this one and I don't want to try my luck any further with another active. Very disappointed in Sony Ericcson. I was happy but now its the second time. I had to travel amost 300Kms in the past to get my previous phone replaced and I guess its happening again.

However I am not sure that this is the issue.

People who have resolved this issue, are rquested to share there inputs.

My Xperia also died on me. I wated to make a call but screen went black with a slight illumination in bottom right corner.

I couldnt restart it without taking out the battery. I was trying to wake it up by removing the battery at least 20 times.

When I pressed on button there was vibro as usually when phone starts but nothing happened.

I found this support forums and installed Sony PC companion. Phone was recognised by programm but I couldn't do anything. I've tryed to do "repair my phone/tablet" Green led was lit but phone didn't start after program completed the task of updating software. My sim card was already in an old Nokia and I've already looked up prices for Xperira ZR and Z1.

Buying new phone just after registration of my car would be a big smash on my budget ATM.

Ive tryed USB PCC repair like 3 - 4 times more and NOTHING happened.

I've even throw it on the floor couple of times and agressively twisted the body...

Yesterday I've tryed repair again and WOW I could finally see Sony logo at the start... boot took liike 2-3 minutes.

Then phone booted in Android 4.0.1 and I was really happy I don't need to buy new.

All I can say, don't give up, keep on trying with PCC repair, It took me like 4 times without resauts and then it came back to life.
