less and less there are phones with sliding keyboards, they probably didn't sell as well as the regular phones, it make sense to move away from physical keyboards, it makes the phone thicker, heavier, etc. to each is own

I don't care if the phone is thick, I want a physical keyboard to write faster (you can't emulate the feel of pressing a physical key, and move the finger between the keys without causing a false keystroke). 😞

Also, I use the phone to play games, as some of them (like Sonic CD) and emulators can be played using it as the game controls.

It's a pity that the original Xperia Pro wasn't sold in my country. Mini Pro is tiny and lighweight, but apart of it there's no alternatives, and sometimes I miss a bigger screen to play, since a lot of games can't be purchased on the Android Market because of the screen resolution.

I second that!!!!!!!

Since the Xperia Pro keyboard is absolutely great I'm waiting for a new phone WITH hardware keyboard.

the BUTs:

-with 5 rows ie with an additional row at the top for numbers (like the moto... thing).

-slightly bigger screen (4" ?!?)

-better performance !!! my XPro was not able to handle things like GO Launcher EX, so I uninstalled it but it is still WAY slow

-more battery life. not everybody is in such a bad shape so they can't even hold another 20-30 gramms .....

-solar cells on the back

to round it up: (@Sony, if sombody reads that .. )

there would be a few things that would make a phone stand out of the competition. of course it would not be THE top seller like the iPhone or the Galaxy S2, but it could possibly apeal to a good number of customers that, at this very moment, do NOT really have a product catering to their needs!

And since Sony is about the only one to realise that bringing the codeing-savy part of their customers into the team can only help the quality of their product, I could actualy imagine to stick with this brand.

--> if they make OUTSTANDING phones, not the same as everybody else.

Apple was so successful because they created customer need that were not there then. Be brave and make a phone that lasts 3 days unplugged, has a great Qwerty, performes outstandingly and include the good camera, screen ... you allready have and who knows: You might create a customer want in a big enough group.

If you feel ballsy: Grab one of your cybershot model cameras an build a proper android phone into it, and earn lots of money 😉 you would!!

I'm waiting for a Sony QWERTY phone too.. Something like this -

Affordable.

Stylish (bulky is not a problem for the style statement if it serves greater purpose).

Better battery life (one day is not sufficient).

Bigger screen (not looking like the xperia pro).

1.5Ghz dual core at least.

RAM RAM and more RAM (with more processing power comes better apps)

8MP camera.

ICS a must

~4 inch screen

Additional freebies -

Linux support (Like what ubuntu is doing for Atrix if i'm right).

A PC Suite that can be used for EVERYTHING (messaging, call logs *(calling from PC using phone [not 3G, cellular]), backup, email, just about everything)

Honestly speaking I am a Sony fan, and I definately wouldn't trade in my Xperia for a Samsung/Motorola(maybe, since Google has something to do with it)/Nokia.

Come on Sony.

I really don't understand this! From all this forum requests it's clear there is a demand for qwerty slider phones. And since no other mobile phone maker seems to be interested in selling one in Europe, you can have this whole nice to your self!!!

...but you don't care. You will rather make phones that resemble the rest of the marked, only differing on CPU speed and screen resolution (that hold for a few weeks until someone releases a new and even faster phone).

To me this is just plain stupid.

I WANT a qwerty slider! I have a HTC Desire, my first non qwerty smartphone, and I hate it. Thought I would learn to live with it, but no.

Even though I think the Xperia Pro is outdated I asked my employer to get me one of these since it's the only qwerty slider available, but it turns out this phone is not available any more!?!?

Now I really don't know what to do, my HTC Desire is failing on me and I need a new phone, but I want Android and qwerty slider... is that really too much to ask?

/Morten

I'm the nerd not her...lol

and quite right the QWERTY market is wide open. HTC were the daddies in the area, this helped endear HTC in the hearts of the Techies.

HTC produce poo QWERTY's then drop the market totally. although not the only factor, I believe this drop by HTC of QWERTY's has considerably added to their recent decline.

Come on Sony, we're looking for a QWERTY. you can steal the market, or get a solid foot hold back in the smartphone market.

Hopeful Spec

Galaxy S3 with slide keyboard.

or even sexier

Galaxy S3 with slide Keyboard and slide game pad, Duel slider (well you've got the patent, use it)

You were the Best, but now your barely distinguishable from the rest...

I like with physical keyboards or colored back covers (mini pro has both). The colors make the phone feel "alive", all black phones are just boring.

Hi Shawhifox. I totally agree with you. When I heard the news that sony was releasing three new Xperia models my heart raced in hopes that one of them would include a qwerty keypad, but unfortunately that did not happen

Having been a true Sony Ericsson loyalist for years, (Now Sony Mobile) I truly feel they need to come up whith a new model equiped with a qwerty keypad.

I remember my first Sony Ericsson phone the T610. despite not having a qwerty keypad, it was a looker and always had evryone asking me where I got it from. Over time I upgraded to the P800 smart phone and later the P990i. Finally when sony introduced the Xperia line I was one of the first to jump and purchase the X1. I later moved on to the Xperia X10 which was good however its touch sensitivity needed improvement and lacked the qwerty keypad. I kept saying to myself when are they going to make another upgraded version of the X1 considering how much I loved the builtin qwerty keypad. This finally came with the Xperia Pro. which I curently use till this day.

I love my Xperia Pro however it is once again time for a new and upgraded version. I used to continuously compete with the likes of fellow Apple and samsung advocats and while processor speed was somewhat comparable the key point that always used to win me the arguement was the fact that the Xperia Pro was equipped with an 8MP camera, Sony Bravia chip for great image capturing and ultimately the physical qwerty keypad.

Now the new versions are great but they miss that ever so important piece of hardware. I believe that if Sony unvailed a new model with the specifications of its new Xperia V and added a nice qwerty keypad, dual sim capability, larger clearer speaker, Miracast capability, larger battery, while still somehow keeping it water resistant, they would surely have themselves one amazing phone capable of competing against many of the top end models out there with the ability to win any argument based on the mere fact that no other phone would be packing this much hardware under its hood.

Apologies for the long post. I am truly pasionate about Sony Xperia and can sometimes lose myself in the conversation.

I want an upgraded mini pro, same size just a little thinner and more ram, I really dont want a widescreen laptop in my pocket they are just too massive.

Physical keyboard is a winner
