I have 2 problems with my Xperia s ?? need help

let me start by saying >>>> I love this PHONE

I bought my new sony xperia s about a weak ago >>> I live in Libya and there is no Sony official place to go to here ...

I found these two main peoblems if any one can help me how to fix them on my own if it's possible

1: my phone wakes up on it's own every couble of minutes and then sleeps again ...

2: the SIM signal drops alot >>> too much >>> and by the way I tried the same SIM card on my SE Vivaz it works properly and without a problem

so is there a sitteng or something that I missed to change ??? plz help

Try to reset your Xperia S and configure it again, or you can change your SIM card, sometimes it could work well in some phones and another's don't. Check it and tell me if you fix it.

like RelesSony suggested, reset to factory settings and see if that fix the issue.

Good day guys, im so frustrated today......my experia S just went blank on me after nothing at all. I updated my facebook status and went to take a shower. when i came back, it flashed a blue light and when i attempted to switch it on and retrieve the notification, it didn't power on. tried the charger, and connecting through PC companion and there's still nothing happening. Can anyone, PLEASE help me!

can you remember how much battery have you got left the last time you saw it?

if the "blue' light refer to led, it usually does that when it tried to boot in flash mode. although that only happen when u press the vloume-up hey when u start the phone. wait. maybe your volume button is stuck.

Thanx for showing your concern Zann, but I had at least 70% of battery in it. The volume up or down button ain't stuck either, wonder what the problem could possibly be now

OMG Zann....how do I thank you? My babe is back on. Simple, tried switching it on while pressing the volume up button at the same and guess what, waaaalah.....she switches back on. Thank u so much Zann, I was almost panicking. You should see the smile on my face right now. Thank you so much

there's 2 way to deal with this situation.

1) Send the phone back for service. This may take days or weeks.

2) Since you have 70% battery left, you can try to re-flash the firmware ur self if you're up to it.

It might sound complicated, but trust me, its not. If you decide to go this path, try to see if you can connect the phone in flashmode first by pressing the volume+up and connecting your usb cable to the pc while the phone is off.

and for the service >>> I found these 3 options in mobile networks :

network mode : WCDMA only

GSM only

WCDMA ( preffered ) / GSM

I have no idea what these options mean but once I changed from the 3rd option to the 2nd one the sim signal became perfect !!!!

can any one tell what I did ????

I don't know where you live but GSM it's most common know as 2G.

WCDMA is 3G. The last option it's the best if you have a Data Package in your phone because it's much faster network and choose always the best network you are connected,WCDMA - 3G also is needed for MMS purposes. If you need help just ask

One more question do you have the original ROM?

The 3rd option will always try to connect to WCDMA if available. Even if the the signal is very low. That means if you're at a location with GSM and an CDMA it will connect to CDMA.

Problems occur when you're nearer to th GSM than CDMA. Since the setting prioritse CDMA, it will keep trying to connect to CDMA even if the signal is very low. This is when users usually experience unexpected interruption to their calls or data access. Which usually results in calls getting cut-off unexpectedly or your phone being unreachable.

If you experience this issue and u're not in transit or moving, from my experience it's better to set to GSM only. At least untill you move around to another location.

The reason I say the above is because my house is at such location. If i'm on the phone at the door, i get disconnected when I move to the kitchen. Which is less than 5 metres away. lol. That's why I always set to GSM only when I get home.

Note: Setting to GSM means that your data transfer rate will be very low.

We need to explain that this issue its a Network problem, not the phone. Where i live i have a 3G where i decided to go so i have both. But i agree with the post before that said if you have network issue choose GSM :smileysad:.

yes I do ....

the thing is I don't use mms and video calling ... it's too expencive here in Libya ... and yes 3g service is very low here where I live ( in a town away from the city ) but I wonder why with my vivaz I never had this problem .???

the MCAFEE Security that is already installed in my phone is totally useles since I think the only country that is not listed in it is LIBYA .... is there any way to activate it ??!!
