Hi,

Purchased by Xperia ray on the 14th of January from a authorized dealer here in Mumbai (India). Since the very first day i am experiencing a problem with the earpiece of the phone. I hear a signal interference sound in the background when i am speaking (both during incoming and outgoing calls, however this disturbance is only audible to me, the opposite party does not hear any disturbance)....I took it to the service center and they replaced my piece with a new one on the fourth day from purchase. the new phone that i have got also has the same problem...I am not quiet able to understand why this happens..I also tried using my phone outside my residence (just to rule out network/connectivity issues)....I hear the disturbance intermittently. The sound is pretty similar to the what you hear in your computer speakers just when your mobile phone close by is about to ring. I have already escalated this withing SE but they seem to be having no clue about the problem..Is this a problem with a certain lot of phones that were manufactured??. (as both the original phone and the replacement were given to me by my dealer from the same lot, both having same manufacturing/import dates, so i presume they were from the same manufacturing lot.)

Is anyone experiencing the same problem, please help.SE experts your expert comments !!

My test cases

1. used my sim card in another phone, sound is crystal clear both while receiving and making calls.

2. I tried disabling the noise cancellation speaker.

3. Disabled data services and wifi

Regards,

Slazen

Thanks for it responses. It's definitely not a network issue as I have tried an array of sim cards in my phone to test out the problem, also I have made and received calls from different place to test out the same. The continuous electrostatic noise in the background is turning out to be very disturbing

I see. A long shot, but try to run a software repair on the phone via PC Companion just to eliminate that this is not a software issue.

If problem still remains I would suggest that the phone gets examined again by a repair center.

1. Open PC Companion

2. Start 'Support Zone'

3. Select Software Updates

4. Click on Repair

try this...

if this does not solves the problem as johan mentioned , you have to take it to a service centre to get it checked..

Quality assuarance are u listening??????
