Apps are present but not working?

Hey everyone,

So I updated my PLAY to the newest Android update 2.3.4 and it went down successfully.

However, today when I turned on my phone, every app on my SD card didn't work. It was present in my phone, but it just wasn't working. If I tried to click in to the app, a message came up that said "App not found." and if I plug it in to my computer, it doesn't say anything about anything being gone. It's all there, but it's just the actual app that's not working. Was it the update that caused this and what can I do to retrieve the apps and have them up and running again? My SD Card doesn't show any signs of them not being there, because it's about 6GB full right now. It's also in my computer so I have no idea what's going on.

If anyone knows how to fix this, that would be incredibly awesome!!!

if you removed or unmount the SD card the apps won't work, since you moved them to the SD card

turn off your phone -> take the SD card out -> put it back on -> turn on your phone -> see if they are there

I just noticed something, if your phone its connected/mounted to your computer you can NOT have access to your SD card, since your computer has access to it. safe remove it from your computer and then you'll have access to it.

go to settings -> sony ericsson -> connectivity -> usb connection mode -> MSC -> and also uncheck auto connect MSC

the problem is that even when my phone isn't connected -in the picture the phone is connected to the USB cable but I disconnected the SD card- it still doesn't work. I have tried unmounting then mounting the SD card and that hasn't made a difference. I also tried unmounting the SD card, turning off the phone, taking it out and then putting it back in, and then turning the phone back on. None of these have made any difference unfortunately It was working yesterday when I updated my phone, but it's not working today!

So far the best thing that I have done is to have to re-add all my applications again, but it's tedious and I can't find some of the apps on the market.

ok this is what I would do

1st remove the SD and SIM cards then

2nd repair your phone with Update Service

Update Service (SEUS)

its an android problem.. i faced the same issue in another samsung's android...

so , go to settings > applications > manage applications > downloaded

there you will see all the applications...

select any of them , and see if you get the option to move them to sd card or the phone memory or not...

just move them and see if this helps..

I clicked into that and gave it a look, and when I try to move an app from the SD card to the phone card, this shows up. Quite strange because the application does not exist but its memory is all in the phone. My best bet that I had to come up with is to re-add all these applications again.

unplug your phone from your computer, restart your phone and do NOT plug it in, and see if that works

1. Open PC Companion

2. Start 'Support Zone'

3. Select Software Updates

4. Click on Repair

this wont delete anything and maybe solve the issue..

tried both your suggestions, but doesn't look like it made any difference. Here is a picture of what happens when I try to click one of the apps (the phone isn't connected to PC Companion or my computer, it's just charging through my computer)

can you take another picture where you aren't charging the phone, just to make sure?

also you can just repair your phone with Update Service, the link is above, just run it

i explined with steps

open pc companion and select support zone.

then select software updates ( make sure your phone is connected )

after you click on start you will get the option of repair..

okay, I did the Update service. I backed everything up before I did the service but everything is gone now! Only my pictures and music stayed intact, but my apps are gone!

It's strange because their MEMORY is still in the phone.. it still says that there are 6GB of applications in my phone but it's just that none of them are even there anymore.. even when I plug my phone into the computer my files are all there. it's the physical and actual application that's not on the device.

don't worry about it, use the Backup & Restore app and then reinstall them all

btw how did you backed them up?

I think I used App Restore and Backup.

I think the backup and restore worked, because the files are apparently present in my system, but the physical app seems to be missing. I'm re-adding some new apps right now, and old ones I had before as well.
