launching up animation

This is what I noticed from my mini pro.

It's not so much of a question, but a comment question.

why is launching animation (of an app) smoother when the homescreen is in landscape mode than in vertical mode?

just try to launch any app. both in landscape mode and vertical mode. this is my result.

before i show the results, you can switch your home screen to landscape mode by doing the following;

1. if you're using the original SE launcher, just slide out your keyboard.

2. if you're using Go Launcher Ex, you can change it from menu> peferences> screen settings > screen orientation> auto rotation / horizontal mode.

here's the result.

vertical mode

app - launching animation

camera (any camera, either stock SE cam or downloaded from market) - no animation at all. skip from homescreen to camera.

most of the application - yes. but when the phone is 'busy', the launching animation become somewhat 'stuttering'.

landscape mode

app - launching animation

camera - smooth.

most of the application - smooth. but when the phone is 'busy', it doesn't start the launching animation straight away. it waits for loading first, and then show u the nice and smooth launching animation when it's ready. the only application that skips the launching animation is a IM app called LINE.

so why are there differences between landscape mode and vertical mode? when are the launching animation smoother in landscapre mode?

are these 'bugs'?

not sure if this happens in other xperia phones. but i think if you're not using 'Mini Pro' or 'Pro', you can only get to landscape mode by installing Go Launcher Ex.

Maybe you guys can too experiment this.

go to settings -> about phone

and check your

Android version and build number

i use an arc , and its the opposite

in vertical position , display animation is smooth... but if i hold the phone in landscape mode , it waits for a second and without any animation it opens the respective thing...

its not at all smooth..

if i drop down the notification bar , if a message is arrived , when i tap on the message notification , its just removes the notification but not the notification bar ,

but while in vertical mode it redirects to messaging application..

the latest one. 4.0.2.A.0.62.

uliwooly, try to launch camera from your phone. both in vertical and horizontal homescreen mode. i am not sure, but i can feel it's the same with all xperia phones?

a launching animation for the camera? I don't get animation, it goes straight to the camera

i see. i have it on landscape mode.

whatever it is, i hope it will be fixed on ICS lol.

for me, presentation counts. there may be many bugs in Xperia, but if you can present it with nice animation, it makes the people's perception on it differently. the thing people always see first is the outer apperance. animation is one of the 'outer apperance'. if it's going to skip the animation and jump straight to the app, or having stuttering animation, people is going to think straight away 'this phone is laggy' even though it can run heavy 3d graphic games.

its just with the camera.. if you open any setting it does animates...

go to settings > display > animation > all
