Synchronisation apps often require this to be checked. I don't know what it means or if it is safe to use it - or even leave it checked. If seems that some phones have problems when this is left checked. How about the Ray?

Thanks Johan. As you have noticed, I have been switching it on for MyPhoneExplorer - but I have switched it off immediately afterwards. If it is safe to use it on the Xperia Ray, I may as well leave it switched on all the time? This prompts the general question: if it is safe, why have the option to switch it off?
