Unable to complete registration process

Hi,

Xperia Arc S arrived yesterday and today I had time to get it out of the box and set it up.

Going through the setup guide was fine until I reached the part where you register the phone to recieve updatesetc etc. Selected the 'Google' option to 'log in with' . Get the 'Please Wait' message and then "Sorry! The application Support (process com.sonyericsson.andriod.support) has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again - Force Close".

try again and again but it still fails with the same message.

Using PC Companion, I successfully updated to "4.0.2.A.0.42"

repeat the registration process and it still fails.

any ideas??

I had the same and gave up. I created an account online and downloaded PC Companion. Also, non of the tutorials work.

i also had the same problem when i bought my Arc ... it's not the problem with phone it's something wrong on google side....

many person will suggest you to reset your phone and many other things but the thing which worked for me was that i downloaded the update of android market from my computer and installed it on my Arc and it ask for google account and i gave and it registered only when i use the wifi connection (may be because i'm in china and service provider internet package don't allow us to open the market)... i'm sure in your case wifi and data service both will work
